P2 Math - General Discussion

How do you manage your time and finish all thoes assesmentbooks? do you go with school and do the same topic at home or try to finish before the school? do you all manage to do all you assesment books? Do you teach all the subjects in the same day meaning MM/CL/EL/....piano/dance etc etc?

i am a SAHM, got resources but I am still :imdrowning: pls dont say :offtopic:

share an effective timetable for me...

Since 4 Jan till now, I feel like it's been like a few months...setting work for them after school, marking and coaching younger one in her English.
Next week's schedule very relaxing...bcos yours truly here need to let go some steam.

This year very shiok. Hubby's parents are FAR FAR AWAY (in US)...so NO need to visit them. Visiting ? Just my parents and grandmother's place. That's all.

Whether to move ahead of school or wait for school will really depend on your child and yourself.

What I recommend is that you do it systematically. Choose which resources you want to rely on (the main ones). Then systematically follow those. Choose 1 that covers basic concepts and 1 that is challenging for each subject is good enough. When you've completed those, then dive into your stash of other books.

Set aside a fair amount of time each day or each week. It has to be a fixed a mount of time. You need to be disciplined in following your allocated time for revision with your child.

Following your daily/weekly sessions, you can simply go at your child's pace. If she's fast, then you can cover a bit more each session. If she requires more explanation, then go slower for her benefit.
No point rushing through and she does not know anything.
Sometimes, you may find yourself ahead of the school. If this happens, you need to ensure that you teach the concepts very clearly as it's not revision anymore. Also, get your child to explain the concept to you to test her understanding (not you talking all the time).

I try not to teach before the school does...or else my kids will not listen to the teacher when he/she teaches...furthermore, teachers may want the kids to follow a method used esp for Math.

Since Eng is made up of diff components like Grammar, Vocab, Comprehension & Cloze, I will plan one component for one day...maybe grammar for Mon, vocab for Wed. Math on Tue for eg. Have to allocate 2 days for learning EL spelling, 2 days for CL spelling. Don't want to push her to memorize all words/characters in one day.
My kids take naps...so after nap time, they feel more refreshed...so we will do some work before dinner. Rest, bathe before doing another 1 hour before bedtime.

When the school started in Jan 4 we actually started with enthusiastic and energetic heart. we able to finsh all coquer books(P1) and started P2, Maths (with school) topic by topic.. mean time school is actually on the runway.
Last week they took off and started to fly.. with some home works to do..including art n craft. I thought of teaching bar modelling before her school and started to teach and :stupid: , her piano practical exam is in March. struggling to find time...

And, teach her to prioritise.
If I'm her, I will prioritise as such:
- School homework
- Piano practise (since piano exam is coming)
- Revision with mummy
- Extra work given by mummy

After piano exam is over:
- School homework
- Revision with mummy
- Piano practise
- Extra work given by mummy

same as yours but your bed time is 11 but mine she goes to bed around 9. she also take nap 3-4.30++5-6.30 study break 7.15/7.30 dinner piano practice then wash then at 9 go to bed. she for play/reading time???

Bargain as in... She bargains with you? Or you are bargaining with Mother Nature for more time?
