Yes, you are so right...when the kids are in school, we mummies take the chance to read up and learn from one another to teach the kids.Tinkerbelle:

I saw some shots of comedies to be shown next Wed onwards...so watch TV until either 1) I fall asleep 2) nothing interesting to watch. Before Thur, I still want my kids to get Mon/Tue work done.

Now I have another query about han yu pin yin.
One of my gal's spelling words is \"niu nai\" (milk) and I noticed the word \"niu\" has intonation on the u instead of i. Shouldn't it be following according to the vowels \"a e i o u\" if there are 2 vowels in a pin yin word?
Then I saw \"pai dui\" (line up) and the word \"dui\" has the intonation on the i this time.
I'm confused. :? -

According to my son, it follows the 'a e i o u'...in the case of é dui, there is an 'i' there and it carries more weightage than 'u'. Thus you put the intonation on 'i'. Hope I'm rightNow I have another query about han yu pin yin.

Intonation follows the a, o, e rule then lastly both i and u.
'i' and 'u' have special rule: the intonation is always on the last vowel. So if 'i' in the last alphabet, the intonation is on the 'i'. And if 'u' is the last alphabet, the intonation is on the 'u'. In the example you quoted, niu - the last alphabet is u so the intonation is on 'u'. In dui, the last alphabet is' i', so the intonation is on 'i'. Hope this helps. -
plum-cake:
most of the school p1 is like that. no dictations. I received a letter from myschool they are having ca1 for maths n MT. no ca1 for EL.janet_lee88:
Hi plum-cake,
This week's EL spelling is on animals in the wild.
There are many series in Stellar program.
For å¬å, I made her write out the 6 'a e i o u' with the 4 tones.
Came home yesterday telling me, 'Mummy you tested me å¬å by making me write out. Actually no need to. Just circle will do'.
If it is other way round then I'll be happy..
to refresh 6 'a e i o u' with the 4 tones you can try this(p1)
