Thanks Blobbi for dropping by to join us in our crazy bread discussion! No, not that you do not have the talent/technique to produce nice looking and great tasting bread, but I would blame it on the initial bad experience with your current Z machine? Game to take it out, give it a brush off dust and try again? Maybe you might become a renewed breadmachine kaki like schweppes?

autumnbronze, this is a bit :offtopic: here and it's a bad eg coming from a mod, :oops: but can't help showing you this and must say the picture was inspired by your find at Rissen the other day!


Bought this from my Church's Thrift Shop many many years ago. Cute or not? :love: I used it to pound tablets for my boys when they were younger and hand difficulty swallowing tablets that were presribed to them when they got sick.

Decided to put a dinner spoon next to it to show you how small the P&M is.

Anyway, just to fill you in a bit. It all started late on Tuesday night when Chief decided to drop by the bread thread to admire our breads or peterch's illumiated green buns as he called it! :siam: first then talk ....

One thing led to another and Chief asked if anyone of us could bake those colourful swirly breads that he used to know as a little boy.

I said that was quite easy and after some chit-chat among Chief, schweppes, autumnbronze, Happy Mama and myself, Chief decided to have a challenge, dangling the prize of 488KPs to the first person to produce that swirly colourful bread and like they say, the rest is history. :lol:

By 4am on Wednesday morning (CNY Eve), the 488KPs was claimed!

What happens when you have a bored Maid at home and too many Mandarin Oranges to get rid of? :?


Mandarin Orange Jam of course! :idea:

Don’t know where to post this and I am not going to start a thread just to post a picture of my jam so decided to post it here since bread and jam go together, right? :idea: And I am not exactly wrong either, since most breadmachines come with a jam function.

As some of you know, the baking element of my breadmachine is spoilt, so I used the porridge function of my rice cooker at first, but because the quantity was so small, the jam did not cook properly and there were still lots of juice left even after the porridge function was completed, so I transferred the jam to a small pot and cooked it over slow fire like I would for pineapple jam.

This is the amount of jam from the pulp of about 15 Mandarin Oranges. I pureed it first because we prefer smooth jam to pulpy jam. Pure Mandarin goodness, no preservatives, only pureed Mandarins and sugar. :celebrate:

The bread is not homemade, but store bought, no time to bake one.
