        hi,

since 2016 is coming soon, become a single session, perhaps all parents of rgps can come together, help to brainstorm for ideas - how and what is the best way to solve rainy day very bad traffic jam + flood waters knotty issue ?

with all the ideas brainstormed and collected together, then submit with all the parents’ signatures, petition to rgps Principal, to do something, to solve this long term issue.

The more parents’ signatures collected, the stronger will be the petition impact, the more powerful will be the petition. If it’s only just a few minority parents asking, it won’t work. There must be strength in unity, strength in numbers.

the problem is - entrance to Hillcrest road is narrow.
even on fine days no rain, the going in / coming out for traffic is bad enough - not to mention rainy days, worsened by flood.

since there are so many parents in ksp forum at different levels from Pri 1 to Pri 6, perhaps for each level, assign a main co-ordinator to step forward. The main co-ordinator at each level will then reach out to all classes at her particular level, prepare a standard petition form to collect the signatures of parents, to request for long term solution to fix this issue. The main co-ordinator can in turn enlist help from her assistant co-ordinators, to help her go round classes at her particular level, to collect parents’ signatures. It is too much for main co-ordinator to do this job alone. The assistant co-ordinators can help her.

For me, I am thinking …. get the school to approach LTA for help – is there anyway to build an overhead bridge from the main road, directly connecting somehow into the school hall, on 2nd level. Can be any other suitable place on level 2, not just school hall. This means there will be a 2nd entrance, and a security guard will be deployed there. If LTA can build MRT underground, I am sure LTA can work with the school, to solve this issue.

If can connect direct to 2nd level, then it’ll bypass all the flood waters on ground floor. This overhead bridge can be used for both days – fine days + rainy days, not just for rainy days alone. On fine days, can solve bad traffic jam issue. On rainy days, can bypass flood waters + solve bad traffic jam.

In brainstorming, my idea may sound silly.
But someone else can always work upon one another’s idea, to modify it, and eventually turn it into a workable, feasible long term solution.

My chinese failing me …… I recalled last time there was a chinese story proverbs or something… something about move / shift a mountain, because it was a great obstacle to the villages.

Everyone thought – so silly, how can one possibly move / shift a huge stone mountain ? but eventually, somebody has foresight, took great effort and pain to build a road on that mountain, to transport goods from one town to another. In the end - business flourished, all villagers vey happy ! Because their standard of living improved, after they built a road on the mountain.

          hi ctct61t

For p5, my dd has to bring her books for the first two lessons, so may be is the same for p3 too.

              hi,

another suggestion is … petition to LTA, build an underground link from Tan Kah Kee new circle line MRT station (ready in a few years’ time), all the way direct, right to the very doorstep of rgps.

safe and sound, bypass all the flood waters and bad traffic jam !
then parents can drop children off at Tan Kah Kee station, no need to turn into sardine jam Hillcrest road.

But petition must reach LTA fast, since they’re planning the design of new Tan Kah Kee mrt station, before actual digging / tunneling / piling start.

Oh dear, I told my girl not to go cos shes totally wiped out after her HCL and CCA yesterday. Though GEP classes may differ from mainstream, I better double check with my dd this morning whether shes been told to bring any books. Thanks for sharing

                      Dear All.

                      Happy New Year!!!

                      Hi Greenbean,

Actually, the school can open up of the other main gate as well during rainy days so the kids can alight at the sheltered linkway and take the overhead bridge to get to their respective classroom. Otherwise I think the overhead bridge looks like a white elephant leh…

And it will minimise the bottle neck issue at the gate near to the guard house…

So no need to incur any construction cost just redeploy the security guard to ‘jaka’ the other main gate which is locked most of the time.

                      Cheers!
