Wow! that's fantastic, maid. 15 oranges for the jam. Pure goodness.

      :thankyou: jtoh.

Even though it was only 15 oranges, it was pure hard work as I had to remove the pulp from the membrane before I could puree it.

I just love feasting my eyes on the food you create. Uh, uh, am getting fat on that too!

Okie I take yr advice on the z and will trundle it out, soon. πŸ™‚
Time to take out the old Z and give it a shot. But truth be told, kinda glad that my old Z broke down  so that I can get the new cute cute mini Z. 😎 The newer model is so much more user friendly and easier to wash up after. πŸ˜‰

wow maid the jam looks very nice.. can you please tell me the steps if I have to prepare this in the breadmaker :please:

LKVM, I think you will need A LOT of Mandarins if you want to do it in your breadmachine, in order to have sufficient amount of orange pulp for the machine to churn properly.

First of all, peel the Mandarins and then remove the membrane from EACH individual slice. A very tediuos procedure. Then puree the pulp to a paste. Strain the pulp, but leave a bit of juice in it. Throw into the breadmachine. Add sugar to taste and set to jam function, but trust me, you really need a lot of Mandarins and a lot of patience in order to do that with your breadmachine. The removing of membrane is very, very tedious.

Good luck. Post your picture here afer you have succeeded in getting your orange jam! πŸ˜‰

Thank you maid for it... so if I wanna make strawberry jam I do the same process?

Yes, same procedure. Strawberries can be pureed or chopped into small pieces, depending on your preference. I prefer pureed jams as compared to jams with chunks of fruits in it.

I have made blueberry and grapes jam with the bread machine before. It's a trial and error procedure as you have to gauge the amount of juice and sugar to go with the pureed fruit.

hmmm yes must do the trial first... my kids like strawberry jam a lot... and I too dont like the chunk of fruits in the jam so guess must puree 1st.. but like u said must have lots of fruits so that the breadmachine can work better

But actually if you look at the price of strawberries, I would say it is not going to be cheap to make your own strawberry jam. Like I said before, the breadmachine needs a lot of fruits in order to process properly.

But the breadmachine is really good for kaya.

Another method of making jam is to use the Porridge Function of your Rice Cooker or do like what I did to the Mandarin Jam that day, traditional stirring over slow fire.
