My children are the joy in my life, none of the above matter one whit to me. If they have to go to the lowest ranked P school in Singapore, or I have to handwash their clothes myself at 1am in the morning, I would still do it.

True larr.. i'm also enjoying my children a lot.

Notwithstanding with the mad paper race WE have to go thru with them.

Yah, my kids are my kids, what the g'ment do or don't do, I couldn't care less. Too bad the entitlement culture has taken root in Singapore.

If I don't close both eyes, I will get high blood pressure.

As for the kids, I want them to follow the schedule I set. There are pockets of time for breathing though. Consistency is impt but there are times when I know when the kids need a break and not follow the schedule blindly. 人是活的...gotta be flexible.

what about reducing the standard working hours? currently most companies are doing a 40,42 or 44hr week. Most full time working parents spent average 12hrs at work (including lunch time & travelling, but exclude OTs). Assuming our kids need 9hrs sleep at night, that leaves us only 3 hrs to have dinner, washups and quality time with them only! imagine parents who need to do OTs, lagi no time..


Govt gives $ incentives for more births. What about giving parents time incentive also..? Just a thought...

The truth is that, even if every company allows people to go home at 4pm, there will still be many people who will work until 7pm or 8pm.

Why ? This is because if you work late, you have a higher chance of getting promoted then those who go back earlier.

The fact is that we are losing our jobs to China and India, including high tech jobs. If we want to remain competitive, then we have to work hard.

We used to wear bedroom slippers before we have babies. However, when my babies start to crawl, I just cannot stand the floor being so dirty. I know that in North America, babies are left in the cot most of the time, so parents seldom need to vacuum their floor. But I prefer to let my babies crawl all over the house to explore. I don't want to raise my babies like the westerners.
