GEP and DSA 2011

First and foremost, if you're applying for DSA via academic or GEP domains, your grades will be most important. If you need to sit for the GAT, even having a sterling IRS (ie even if you've won awards at IRS) will not help you if you don't clear GAT.Hi
Happy New Year To All !
I heard that for successful DSA application, the single most important factor are the P5 & P6 grades particularly P6 SA1 grades; that is if a GEP child achieves 80 or more for each subject in P6 SA1, he/she is almost certain to secure a place in the choice of school thru DSA.
How about the IRS project ? Can anyone advise whether the IRS project is also important for DSA application ? And how important is it ?
Thanks !
At the interview stage, some schools will take a closer look at your portfolio and achievements. IRS will come into play here, as will any other special abilities/achievements/certs that you have, be it Math Olympiads, school sports teams etc. It also depends on your IRS, what awards you garnered with that IRS (represented Singapore at OM, garnered distinction etc at IvP, FPS etc) etc. -
Thanks jtoh. Where grades r concerned, to hv a higher n better chance at dsa, does the gep student hv to achieve 80marks or more for each subj or an average of min 80marks?
Thanks! -

During the application stage, it's average of min 80% to be exempted from GAT. Do check the schools' websites for more details closer to the DSA date as they may change their requirements from year to year. Thanks jtoh. Is the GAT paper for all DSA domains (ie.GEP, academic & sports) the same?
Thank you! -

I know it's the same for GEP and academic. Not sure about sports, but I think it's the same. Only difference is the cut off for GEP/academic is different from that of sports.
