Just my gut feel, if the man is willing to step up and help out in the chores at home or with the kids, the woman is more likely to be willing to have more kids.

Then like dis mine too many steps up liao. He's doing too much.. but
cheh... i ain't gonna be suckered to have more kids just cos of that. Just
like how modern grand mamas dowanna be chained to care for children...
so do i! 😢

Dh is a super hands on daddy especaily when we had our first baby. He bathed our new born, woke up for night feed, attended to baby's every whim in lightning speed. Then dh's enthusiasm went downhill with number 2. Now he declares that he has absolutely no energy to help take care of a 3rd because he has a new love interest - golf! Perhaps govt should shut down all golf courses and driving range in Sinapore. Sure can produce more babies :rotflmao:
Face Book will be terminated in July right ? How about not allowing ESPN...so that husbands are not glued to watching soccer matches between Chelsea and Liverpool for eg. When the men's favourite activities are avail, their interest in looking after kids are reduced.

Soccer
Computer - FB networking, games
Golf
Watching TV
Reading Newspapers

These are the pet peeves women have with their husbands. No guarantee that the husbands will help out more WITHOUT these 'distractions' but no excuse NOT to.

Down with football!!

Oh dear... I am having so much fun but I rather suspect the men reading thus are turning pale green. So... no lah... we girls don't mean half of what we say here.

NS men are supposed to use that scrub and wash the loo spotlessly clean right ? Then washing the poo off bb's bum shouldn't be an issue with baby wipes. Oh yes, incorporate father's love while doing so.
To have more babies, the PM should think how NS men can be more domesticated during that 2 years in-camp.
Mine will tell me it depends on whose tolerance level - mine is x level and yours is y. He used to comment proudly that whoever cannot tolerate unclean floor should then do the mopping....and I usually lose.

But I think I'm quite ok - at least he will help out a bit. I know of some who literally put their 2 feet up, start reading papers and totally ignore what goes on in the house. The only thing I cannot stand is that he takes it that he's helping ME.

Where tv is not available, programs can still be downloaded...it's just impossible to win. We don't subscribe to football, but if he is minded, he can still watch online. :faint:

so do i! 😢 Life is short so must balance up with what we do for the
children and what we can do for ourself in that span of time. So if one
keeps on giving birth like rabbids then how liddat? 😢

Too many children also can affect spousal time which in initial years of the
marriage many couples have. One of an old friend caught up with me some
years back. Driving her new SUV, still with one child, already far up there
in her career (same line since i last saw her) but short of a husband. Yup.
Divorced but happy... Her story : simply said... Marriage is a routine.
\"What love? The love is gone the minute you enter a marriage. With
kids lagi worse! So, i'm a happier me now.\"

So time for spouse must also happen sometimes to keep love in place. So
in the rat race we all run here in this fine city, when did we last have some
romance.... go figure.... that is, if you have time.

this made me think of the strange para on the front pg Today article
Ms Carolyn Lim, a mother of two who has recently separated, said that her husband took a month of unpaid leave after each child was born. She said \"It helps with the bonding process, between the father and the child. Both myself and my husband actually had an easier way of handling our child.\"
I was stumped by the \"who has recently separated\" - why did that need to be mentioned, and doesn't it distract the reader from the point she/the article is trying to make? It might even suggest that whilst he did that and for all intents and purposes was an excellent father, somehow their marriage still fell apart? (Not to mention how \"easier way of handling our child\" is somewhat cryptic and incoherent. Maybe she meant easier TIME handling our child? or each had their own better method? :? )

which made me think of Buds' post that also suggests that it's also no good if we go crazy focusing on the kids and forget the primary husband-wife relationship.

But whatever it is, bring on the 2 weeks mandated paternity leave pls. ASAP.

Here's a slightly different view.
http://blogs.wsj.com/juggle/2011/02/07/key-to-happy-marriage-mom-cooks-dad-plays/

I quite like it actually. apply the rule of comparative advantage. I am very happy to iron clothes (my forte) if I never have to drive the car (hate it hate it hate it).

But of course I can only say this cos my DH shares half the housework with me. :siam:

I won't be so stupid to complain about the floor being sticky or clothes folded anyhow. As long as he does something, even if slipshod, better than nothing. Once I open my mouth to complain, the mop will be shoved back to me.

Everybody is concern abt matters after the baby is here…. what abt the process of getting the baby?? We wanted another child, but with our hectic work life, we don’t even have the time and energy to make baby. After a whole day of war fighting at office, sometime with a bit of OT, after work have to fetch the elder kids home, a quick dinner and some bonding time with them b4 their bedtime, Sxx is the last thing on our mind. Looking at some of my friends and relatives, double income with no kids, not that they don’t want children, simply no time….maybe the government should look into the working hours and the change the mind set of the employers.
