      24hr-mum:
is bt panjang pri affiliated to bt panjang sec?

if it is, then i feel better to go bt panjang

is henry park a sap sch?
do u want to insist on sap sec?

i wld think affiliation more impt
I have never stepped foot into this thread before since I am long over P1 registration, but happen to chance upon this post and cannot help but post a reply.

#1 Bukit Panjang is not affiliated to Bukit Panjang Govt High.
#2 Henry Park is not a SAP school.

And my personal opinion is that it is crazy to send a child to a school 10km away.

then is bt panjang CONSIDERABLY greater than henry park in standard?

        i m not sure.

if its isnt, then i wld opt for nearer distance cos travelling is a big headache in terms of time n cost. why make the child travel so far n get tired? esp when cca kicks in later.

unless u willg to shift near the sch later?

          Thank you for your opinions.

I agree that sending my girl to Henry Park which is 10km away is too far, which is why we were almost set to send her to Bukit Panjang.

I want to get feedback from parents if any view Henry Park a much better school that Bukit Panjang, other than being a GEP school ? And then weigh if it is worth all the trouble of distance travel, 2.5Km vs 10Km

FYI, her cousin who stay in the North is in Henry Park , Pri 1 this year. THink the distance from home ~ 20Km. Personally, I think this is crazy

if the distance is so far, also hard for u to arrange tuition if he or she needs. the travelling is tiring enuf for a young kid

nowadays some teachers even in top sch also dun teach.
the real teachers are those in good tuition centres

sap (special assistance plan) sch are sch that offer higher chinese from p1

gep is a gifted education prog. all p3 kids go thru 1st round of gep test somewhere aug. if pass 1st round, go for 2nd round test. if pass then go to gep stream. if existing sch dont hv gep prog, can transfer to gep sch.

this forum has some info on ranking of sch. go under p1 reg thread

I have this feeling that teachers in top schools don't really teach as the students have enrichment lessons everyday. The real teachers are the parents themselves...with help from tuition centres/tutors.

As a parent, I find it tough to coach 2 kids in their school work…forget about having #3. Education is not easy now and parents really have to be hands-on. Even if parents can afford to hire tutors, you can’t leave everything to them. Some tutors will play parents out if they know parents rely on them.

My son is a SAP school…very fortunately, his teachers do teach and as such hubby and I are somewhat relieved we don’t have to find a tutor to double up as a teacher.
