Want to vent about this maid agency UNITED XXXXXXX MAID Agency.
it doesn't come as a surprise!
the agent will get to earn another couple of hundreds of $$ from the maid if they successfully place her out with another employer.
its terribly unfair i agree, and like u said, employers like us are really left to defend ourselves - we have nobody to turn to for help!
even MOM is defending and protecting the maids!
:stupid: -

So unscrupulous. So they're instigating your maid to leave you so they can arrange for transfer? Can you just send your maid home? The maid will not want to go home right?Want to vent about this maid agency UNITED XXXXXXX MAID Agency
Maid was taken from them, recently maid called them and their so-called counsellor told her, that the salary is now $400. Maid now want to negotiate salary wil me, and her 2 yrs contract is not up yet. I am so :x :x :x with the agency.
I called the boss and he hanged up my phone and got his staff to called me back. I am totally pissed and blasted the staff off. How can they be so unscruplous and tell the maids all these and teach them to go home, transfer, then can get higher salary. I am not going to be held at Hostage by the maid.
This is not the 1st time, this agency give me all sorts of problems. I am definitely not going to get anymore maids from them. There are so many agents that are dealing with Myanmar maids now...and like what some pp are saying here.. the lady boss who is a Myanmar herself, are protecting and instigaing the myanmar maids all sort of things.
Haiz, we are really not being protected by any one. -

Thanks cody..checking with the insurance company straight after I have read your reply. Bought mine from GE.raynreg:
I want to check if there is any insurance refund (ie. pro-rated) should the FDW leave S'pore before her contract ends.
first and foremost, i think alot depends on WHICH ins company u buy from. However from my research with most ins companies, the answer is:
yes there is!
but don't leave it to your maid agency to do it for u.
i learnt fr the insurance co that they refunded the pro-rated amt to the maid agency (assuming you bought the insurance thru the maid agency).
when i called the maid agency, they act blur and finally returned the money after i told them the ins company said so.
otherwise, they would have just swallowed the $$ and kept mum!
you can get a pro-rated refund for certain insurance eg health / hospitalization but the ones for the Letter of Guarantee etc - there's no refund. -

Yah..that's what WE should do instead of letting the FDW choose/decide what they want. Anyway the ticket for the low cost carriers are not that expensive. Probably it cost the same as your levy plus the salary while awaiting for the transfer.
I'll prefer not to be taken hostage by them -

Any idea what the steps are if we were to send our maids home without going through agency? Do we just cancel their work permit online and send them to the airport? What other steps are there?jtoh:

I just log into workpermit online (http://www.mom.gov.sg) using my singpass, click on the appropriate options and voila! I can print a letter that the maid will have to carry with her when she clear customs in Singapore. Her wp card must be returned (she can pass it to the customs officer)

So far I did so for my 2 Indo maids that way - but they departed on mutual understanding. No problems. I believe so long as she exit the country, there should not be issue. IF the maid don't want to leave, then things may get hairy and in such cases, it could be better to get someone else to escort her to the airport. -
LKVM:
Also must make sure she gives her WP back
Yes, but I wonder if we can hold on to it and then give back on our own - will she have issue checking out of customs? -

I just sent my helper back. You need to cancel her work permit. Then you need to print out the special pass. She needs this special pass to clear customs.LKVM:

After that, you have a few weeks to return the work permit to MOM personally or via an agent. -
Thanks for the info, LKVM, hquek and Chenonceau.
hquek, you mentioned that things might get hairy if the helper doesn’t want to leave. What might happen?
