If you intend to use your mum's address, you need to go to MOE to make a formal declaration together with your mother that she's looking after your child and that she's not working.
If you are registering your child using your mother's address, please note that your child will be under the 1-2 km category, even though your mother may be living next to the school. Hence, if the school in concern conducts balloting only for those within 1 km, sorry, your child will not even get the chance to undergo balloting. -
Hi
Thanks for the information.
didn’t know there’s so much rules and regulation now. -

Those rules and regulations have been around for a long time. It's all up at the MOE website. Read through carefully. Everything you need to know would probably be there.Hi

Bukit Timah is not too bad...in 2010 my ds failed to ballot for PHPPS at phase 2C and we registered with bukit timah pri...Soooo sad
but my area nearest is only these schs...PHPS,Henry Park,Butik Timah,MGS ,Raffles etc...
But now is registering for SON so only 3 schs to choose fm...wat u tink abt Bukit timah sch?
we put him on wait list with PHPPS and just 3 weeks before sch term started, we recd a call from PHPPS telling us they hv vacancy to take us in.
basically, bukit timah pri is quite popular with students who hv failed to get into schs like PHPPS/NYPS/Nanhua/etc...apparently this sch produces quite a number of GEP students each year....the reason why it is not a usualfirst choice is probably bcos of its location...it is situated in eng kong landed estate...so not so convenient -

Bringing up a child is already tough. And we parents still have to be kiasu and tried all means to put the child into a good school in the midst of all these competitions... Sigh.
Talking abt being KS, my DS started P1 this year...we used to be super bo-chap as to which pri sch he will attend..then sometime in Mar 2010, our panic button was pressed...within the next 3 weeks, we made the major decision of shifting to a rented place just to get our DS into the sch which we wanted...suddenly, our family's routine/schedules changed within a short span of 4 weeks..!
So my advice to parents out there, PLAN EARLY, TRY your best within reasonable means...and leave the rest to GOD/FATE (whatever ur religion)

P1 registration is generally around early July to late Aug. -
Some parents feel that if the child is good, he/she will be able to perform in any school. Well, if that holds, then there will not be a mad rush/desire to move within 1km or do PV to get in.
I personally feel that if I have kids, I will do what I can to put my kid in a good school…of course must coach/groom and not depend entirely on teachers/tutors.
Obviously, there must be a reason why some schools are more popular than the rest. Some principals are very academic driven and gear their HODs/teachers to hit the target.
So all the best to you parents. Try your best but if still unsuccessful to get into the school of choice, register your child’s name on wait list and work hard in the meantime.
