          P2 ? I thought P1-2 does not have SA1 but 'formative assessments ?'

          Mummies of P1s,
Do your gals have problems learning both hanyu pinyin as well as 汉字 for spelling ? My daughter has prob with 七,去,几.
I would say it's good that teacher makes the students remember the 识写字 bcos I get my son in P5 to remember that as well as hanyu pinyin.

            Mummies of P1s,

Do your dd’s Chinese teacher always indicate which pages to learn for spelling? Is it this week 听写五? It seems that it’s getting more and more difficult and confusing. Thanks.

This week is on 听写四, don't know why skipped 听写三.
I actually taught my gal the 汉 (characters) but yesterday's memo written in the planner said will test 听写四 instead. So had only 1 day to learn both hanyu pinyin as well as characters.
I thought P1 听写 is just on hanyu pinyin ? Why are the P1s tested on the characters as well ? To me, it's rather heavyweight.

                Hi Janet,
My dd's class never skipped any spelling for both English and Chinese. She had 听写三 (bpmf dtnl) during Chinese new year week (brought forward) tested on 1.2.11 Tuesday and 听写四 (gkh jqx) last week. This week should be 听写五 for my dd. Maybe to let them recognise the words first then learn how to write later on. Do your dd always get full marks for her Chinese spelling?

I've yet to see daughter's 听写 (一/二)so far. Today tested on 听写四 (gkh jqx). Next week 23/2 wil be 听写五.

                    Hi Mummies,

My hubby came back last night after the P1 briefing tired but happy with the efficient administration. Mrs Tan is really a warm, tactful and caring principal.
Although CHIJ TP isn’t a SAP school, there is equal emphasis on both English and Chinese. After he has told me, I’m getting a little panicky…the school is rather ‘ON’.

                      Hi Mummies,

I am wondering if any mummy here has curriculum of P1 English for whole year.
I would like to know what will be taught for Term 2 English…only mentioned what will be taught in Term 1 in the IJ website. This whole Stellar thing is not helpful for parents as there is no textbook to fall back on. Hope to get some advice.
                      Thanks.

                        Hi Janet,
Could you email or call the teacher?

This is only a rough guide and its 2 yrs old. So, am not sure if 2011 is different. Handouts for the first 3 were given out.
                        (1) Singular/Plural
                        (2) Present Tense/Past Tense
                        (3) Animals, young, sound & their movement & home
                        (4) This, that, these, those
                        (5) few, little, any, much, many

Vocab - this is wide ranging and helps if your dd reads widely.

The only thing which needed to prepare (i.e. memorise) was the first 3. #4 can confuse some children initially but most children will understand in class.
