I feel traffic today near RGPS seems improved a little bit.

Yes, I thought so too. 😄

probably yesterday's ST Forum letters have some impact

the P of RGPS should come here to hear genuine feedback

[/quote]that has been on the mind of many parents

but the private bus / school bus industry is challenging due to high operating cost, hence school bus operators need to make 2 runs to be sustainable, else close shop

high COE, mandatory vehicle life span, high driver cost, all adds to the operating cost.

if school bus is exempted from COE, no life span for the bus, probably some smaller proprietary owned buses may choose to operate only one run catering to school children without another run for factory workers

I was told the March holiday was falled in week of Mar. 7 onwards, just checked calendar, it seems school holiday will start from 14 Mar, so dispointed.

                  Hi all,

Since we are on the topic of transport issue, I am thinking of initiating a meeting with the school bus association, with the school’s endorsement, for parent to have a platform to voice out some of our issues with regards to the school bus, some of the agenda items might be:

                  1. Early morning fetching hours
                  2. Concern over reaching school too early
                  3. Why some school buses reaching school so early while others can be nearer to assembly time
                  4. If the school bus morning fetching hours can be more reasonable, then more parents will consider the school bus route and alleviate the traffic congestion problem

If we can have a rough estimate of the number of parents who have had issues with this and might be interested to attend the meeting, then will go ahead and sound the Principal out.

Pls kindly let me have a sense. Thanks.

                  Thanks.

                  Ming

                        Herbie:
I think the school should also think of ways to improve the flow of traffic within the school especially at the drop off area/canteen.

Some kids take their own sweet time to alight from the car... and hence jam up the incoming traffic.

So the school should consider to designate another official drop off point.
Yes, I send my dd to school by car everyday. And every time, without fail, I will see two out of the three cars at the drop off point taking their own sweet time. The driver will come down , help the kids put on their bag , and have a hug/kiss. Some will even park their car at the drop off point and walk off to do something.
