Borders filed for bankruptcy

just learned that Borders has filed for bankruptcy and will be closing 200 stores.
I will miss the experience of shopping for books in a mega bookstore.

hope Singapore is not affected -
I wonder if this is the net effect of dis-intermediation where publishers sell direct to customers online? Or e-books, for the matter.

The singapore branch is not closing I think.

Is there a latest update which cotradicts the above? :? -
We were at Wheelock Borders last Sun. The store now sells toys n stationery. I think it is really hard to be selling only books given Sβpore has a good community libraries network and sizes of apts are shrinking.

huh..just renew the membership subsciption lah...

I guess the bookstore business is a sunset business, what with amazon and all. Maybe in the future only Popular will be around because of the assessment book business.
The way business models are changing is quite scary. Must really adapt or die with the internet age.
But I really like Borders and would go there often with my kids. Hopefully singapores borders can be around for a longer time. -
With e-book around, books business is hard to sustain.
How many people really books ? Iβve gone to Borders several times but most of the time came out empty-handed. -
Borders SG was the top revenue generator - reported in news a couple of years ago.

I am there every Saturday between about 9.30 am to 1010 am while waiting for my kids to finish Berries.
Bought so many books last year that I really have nothing else to buy
I believe SGP stores are seperate?
Would really be bored if they closed down
