Brainkid:
I am going to recee Borders for the first book you recommend from Borders. I hope I can find it in its closing down sales.
Did you manage to get the books? I managed to find a couple in NLB.Brainkid:
Hehe me too. But also bcoz MIL might not be happy if I suddenly pluck babe out of her loving arms & send him to evil CC where they won't spoon feed watery gruel lovingly, make 200% sure he doesn't fall etc.Problem with me as a parent is I AM KIASI.
As my ds is currently under the care of my mom, I am only looking for a 2-4 hr playgroup. I want him to learn something rather than staying at home and hitting the pots and pans everyday. BUT I am worried about sending him to Child Care Center because of the hygiene. I am kiasi he will fall sick in CC environment as there are more children.
Brainkid:
Hmm I prefer the mixed age. When they're too narrowly divided, I find that they tend to do more group teaching & less Montessori (from my keen observations after visiting the 3 CCsBTW, what is a good set-up for Montessori? For CS, they are putting kids between 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 together which I think is a big age range. Is this the way it should be?

I visited SG Montessori at Thomson before. High academic standard, very organized. But they do not have mixed age group, the children are segregated into their own age and they wear uniform.
How do you tell if they're of high academic standard? :? -
The children works on the wall, their worksheets, etc show it.
-
Honestly I don't really know the \"standard\" these days. Nowadays I see Kindergarten kids doing spelling & tingxie - this was unheard of during my time! Knowing your ABCs was as good as it got! I feel sorry for our kids

-
Hitting pots and pans may be a good thing.

As long as the child does not watch TV, it's actually beneficial for him or her to explore by himself/herself.
Just want to ask you mummies, is sch fee an issue for u and what is the maximum that u would pay? Coz there are few good ones around, but thing is, they are often very expensive.
-
Is it? I think when I was in kindergarten, sometimes got tingxie leh? :?
Anyway,I compared that to normal kindergarten (church based, PCF, etc) that I went to.
Note that some PCF has higher standard also. They are not consistent. -
smurf:
Really? My PCF's std must not have been very high then :oops:Is it? I think when I was in kindergarten, sometimes got tingxie leh? :?

Hey bud,
Hey again, mistermerz!
Pssst... by the way... it's err... buds. Plural.
I have three! Third little budlet just delivered last Dec.
mistermerz:
Yeaiy! :rahrah:Just saw your pink object box post. Misussmerz is excited to make one now.
You're making me excited too! :lol:mistermerz:
Yeeup i agree. To get the box n print the words are easy enough, but to get a variety of small toys....gotta really search for them.

I loved popping into small and quaint novelty shops where i know i'm
sure to get something reali unique and also cheap! So far the ones i
got were either strapped off from keychains, from small toy shops,
Daiso, and yes... that once in a while novelty shops i mentioned.
I didn't manage to get it all at once either, so build up on the few you
may already have first like from the girls' toy boxes like barbie's hats,
bag and boots.. ..get that peg, that red chip from play-mahjong
chips for /e/ box and that small bin or treasure box you get from not
eating that cheap candy at 7-11. So start rummaging thru'
stuff in the home first. You'd be surprised with what you could
find that fits in one small pink box! :celebrate:
Have fun in your treasure hunting guys!
Must show and share with me and all of us your final product hokay?
mistermerz:
Agree! :celebrate:Since the reports on toys made in china found to contain lead, my dear missus hasnt bought any cheap plastic toys from the ahpek shop downstairs.
(but I feel he has some of the most fun looking toys, some fun-er looking than those sold at toys r us.) -
buds:
Psssst... :please: mistermerz... you drive Mercedes issit?
Just curious over your nick? :lol:mistermerz:
:rotflmao:LOL! Pls don't let my nick fool you. It's actually part of my real name. Person not rich, only name sound rich.
hehe.
Wow. Then your name sounds reali rich la hor. :lol:mistermerz:
Now then you say.. :slapshead:Ok will let u know more abt my child, actually she's turning 3 in 2 mths. I didn't realize that .... :slapshead: ... Paiseh. How fast they grow.
mistermerz:
Do you actually have a cat or was that referring to missusmerz? :siam:Gotta feed the whining toddlers and meowing pussy some breakfast now. Will be back!
