balloting definitely required for MGS below 1km. It will be a miracle if it doesn't happen next year. But considering the number of new condos sprouting up around MGS, the chances are going to be worse than previous years.

Balloting for MGS within 1km has been going on for few years...it will go on for a long long time. It's an all girls school with affiliation to secondary...wanted to register my daughter there but staying within 1-2km.

May I know if anyone knows the highest PSLE score for non GEP students in HPPS? I wonder if the non GEP students are also doing as well or better than students in other neighbourhood non GEP schools.

my cousin managed to successfully enrol her daughter in SCGS primary, and her son in ACS Barker primary - via the rc way. Two very good schools.

they could not afford to buy houses in the expensive property district, to be < 1 km. Both she and her husband not from ex-SCGS, nor from ex-ACS.

Really envious...bcos she doesn't quite have to worry about their secondary schools for the next 10 years...wanted to transfer my son to ACS Barker primary but wait list is just too long.

yes！indeed, it’s really makes a world of huge difference, whether a child attends an affliated primary school - vs. those who don’t.


if a a child attends affliated primary school, the psle stress for both parents and kid –the mental anxiety during exam preparation, is so many times greatly reduced !

time flies! 6 yrs primary school pass very fast, in the twinkle of an eye! If no affliation, child has to find own secondary school himself.

besides, many good secondary schools minimum entry score very tough to achieve.

top secondary schools minimum entry usually hovering around 263, 265. Without affliation, other good secondary schools with slightly 10 points lower down, say, hovering around 250 to 255 – this type of score also very tough to achieve !

those who come from affliated primary school with lower score got safety net to catch them. Lower score never mind, still can enter. Difference of 1 or 2 point more already not easy to get … let alone talk about difference of > 10 points - between those coming from affliated schools, vs. those who are not.

I mean - of course every parent would love their child to do well.
which parent doesn’t ? But hor, sometimes in life hard to say, anything can happen during psle exam time.

I think the strategy should be – better start queuing a child for transfer into an affliated primary school - if say, he cannot get into one, during primary 1 registration time. Never mind when transfer takes place. Better queue up first !

at least can have peace for the next 10 years first!

peace for 10 years but with the top JC's places mostly taken up by IP students at sec one, it will be heart breaking to try to fight into the top JC even with perfect scores for O levels...as it is now, you need 3 points for L1R5 to enter RJI/HCI

i think the advantage of pri-sec affiliation is over-hyped unless you can get into a sec school that has through-train to JC2....but then this will mean affiliation at a higher cut-off point, eg NYPS girls going to NYGH need min 250 for the through-train in NYGH/HCI...

I am sure Cat High / SCGS are raising the bar on the way to establish their own IP /JC through train .... affiliation won't be at 210 now (eg SCGS).....

too much hype on affiliation become an \"affliction\" later on when the scores are not good enough to enter top tier JC

for the rich - perhaps send them England / US to study medicine or law degree ? what about those that remain back in SG ? where they go ?

one of the local uni, or oz, or nz, or poly, later mostly get married ....and not so much what school they studied
