Happy Mama:
Cousin's wife told me the stress (and can feel) is from P4 to P5...P2 to P3 is harder in terms of the more in-depth of subjects and introduction to Science.S6169:
Always heard that P3 to P4 is a jump, P4 to P5 is a bigger jump. In P5, almost a PSLE standerd. What does these mean? Jump as in the suject or exam difficulties or the marking standerd.
I find Pri 2 to Pri 3 already a very big jump and DD has a hard time coping with all the homework.
At P5, the child is more or less expected to produce P6 answers...answers must be in detail, leaving no chance for doubt. I've started getting my daughter in P1 to learn to write clearly and neatly as I feel this should start from young.
When son was in P4, he had a hard time coping with the tons of homework...whole family had to help him one way or the other. Teachers literally pile on 'like nobody's business'

ds not feeling well these few days, ask him to take MC but was rejected by him. Thanks Jennifer and Mum113. Will remind him. Just follow what IJJ's dd said, right?
If We look from another View Point ....
May Be He's Trying to Show by example what's Right and What is Not, and Not specifically picking on any students' work?
Parents, Notice from your posts that there are a number of students Doing Similar Mistakes in their Master pieces ....
But May Be this Mr Chin could put in a disclaimer B4 flashing the Incorrectly Done Art Work, like saying many of the students did not do it correctly and submit Art work similar to this ....
Then it will Not Be = \"Public Shaming\"?

Agreed. That's why I wld like to hear from the HOD exactly what happened during the lesson. My P4 boy was unable to tell me more as he has learnt the skill of hearing only the good stuff. The moment Mr Chin criticised his work, his ears switched off.
My elder boy had a Dec hols assignment: to come up with a poster on the author of The Animal Farm. His was the 1st to be presented in class, followed by another classmate. The teacher then called for a pause and used these two posters to explain to the class what was correctly done, what's not. This teacher explicitly told my boy and his classmate that his remarks are directed at the posters, not the persons who prepared the posters. This is acceptable to me. -
Hi Jennifer,
As your elder boy has gone through PSLE, it’s a little more assuring knowing what to expect for your younger boy, although every child is different. Hope you can share your experience how you prepared your child for PSLE then. A million thanks !! -

Mark, Think We have 2 potential members for our L-F Club!

My son said he did not know whose slides were shown, so I think it was kept anonymous lah.
I seriously think you should bring this matter to the school authority. Even under Singapore judicial system, we do not shame the 1st time offender in littering. What more about an assignment. Considering the majority in the class did not get it right last Mon shows that his teaching methodology is questionable. He is very fortunate that my dd is not in his class. I'll :torchme: him. :xJennifer:
My boy got his art work flashed on the visualisor today as a sample of wrongly done assignment. He came back with the right version 1/2 done in sch.
My boy also folds the paper into 1/2. I find the art folio a clumsy bag. -

Btw Jennifer, I heard alot of parents saying fr P4 to P5 is a huge jump. Why is that so? How badly wld one do in their p5 CA1?
10 Marks or More Drop in Marks?
But Almost EveryOne Suffers the Same Fate ....
So Overall Class Position Remains Almost the Same ....

Yeah, It's Less Stressful to look on the Bright Side. Then School Life is Still Bearable, Right?

For those P3 children who went for the JB trip last yr, they would have learnt about batik painting. My son brought one batik painting back that day...dyh:

Sigh. I hope his dignity is still intact. Many kids will do wrongly if the instructions is not clear. What IJJ mentioned earlier didn't sound like tessellations to me as well.
So did they do batik painting today? I wonder how he teaches them?
I conducted a \"batik painting\" with my P5 class before. We folded serviettes or kitchen napkins as many times as we can. It can also be folded into any odd shapes. Then we dip the different corners of a folded napkin into different diluted poster colours. The corners will absorb the paint to parts of the napkin. Then we leave them to dry. When we opened up the napkin (very gently) and voila!! A beautiful piece of batik art.
Did He Buy it For You?

No, everyone got to draw one batik painting with some professional assistance, and bring it home. Not sure how much is really his own work but at least they got the experience lor. -

Hi Funx3,
I got the book ‘Challenging Maths Problems Made Easy’ yesterday and to my horror :!: it doesn’t look like English to me…more like Greek…feeling really stupid. I just don’t understand why primary school is this tough now. -
