Always heard that P3 to P4 is a jump, P4 to P5 is a bigger jump. In P5, almost a PSLE standerd. What does these mean? Jump as in the suject or exam difficulties or the marking standerd.

I find Pri 2 to Pri 3 already a very big jump and DD has a hard time coping with all the homework.

Wow everyone has increased workload from P3. All the P1/P2's .. we better enjoy our time now.

DH was like why pick boys and not girls.

            Hi Happy MaMa,

I don’t know if this ‘piling on homework’ for P4 is the norm in PH but just be ready if it happens. At P5 this year, teachers don’t give homework in terms of quantity but more in-depth.
Was expecting tons of homework for son this year…but son’s homework so far was more of challenging Maths problems and English worksheets to practice more Comprehension OE.

Hubby said boys tend to mature later...around O levels. These 'flowers' will suddenly wake up. In the meantime, we can only motivate and encourage them. My son is still playing with his Nerf guns at the slightest opportunity.

We have 2 potential members for our L-F Club!

Can you kindly explain what is L-F Club? I have read it a few times now but still could not figure out what is it.

Thanks for sharing Janet. Looking on the bright side, I think it's PH way of drilling their kids to achieve excellent results for PSLE.

All I can do is to encourage DD and give her all my support and keep telling her that her hard work (from PH) will reap results and she will enjoy the fruits of her labour when she gets her PSLE results. 😄

Agreed. That's why I wld like to hear from the HOD exactly what happened during the lesson. My P4 boy was unable to tell me more as he has learnt the skill of hearing only the good stuff. The moment Mr Chin criticised his work, his ears switched off.

My elder boy had a Dec hols assignment: to come up with a poster on the author of The Animal Farm. His was the 1st to be presented in class, followed by another classmate. The teacher then called for a pause and used these two posters to explain to the class what was correctly done, what's not. This teacher explicitly told my boy and his classmate that his remarks are directed at the posters, not the persons who prepared the posters. This is acceptable to me.
This is acceptance to me too. 😄

                        Hi Funx3,

I got the book 'Challenging Maths Problems Made Easy' yesterday and to my horror :!: it doesn't look like English to me...more like Greek..feeling really stupid. I just don't understand why primary school is this tough now.
                        IS this the 4-in-1 book?
