Original Title: Character Montessori Holland--feedback needed
Hi,
Please help! Does anyone have feedback on Character monte at Holland please? How are the teachers? Do they prepare the kids well for P1?
Thank you! -
My son, Ian (K1) has been in Character Montessori (Punggol) since January this year and I am really happy about his progress. If, like us, your child is from English speaking background, you would appreciate the unique ways in which Chinese and all the Chinese enrichment subjects are taught. Once, I glanced through the window and saw how a Chinese character was separated into a few cards and how the children were taught the steps to recognize and arrange the strokes. He learnt how to address relatives in Chinese through some recitation. Wonderfully, in just over a month at Character Montessori, Ian, together with his classmates, could perform a Chinese Dance and present a Chinese song for Chinese New Year Celebration!
Ian enjoys all the lessons there. One day, he came back spelling numbers one to ten using “Oh My Darling Clementine” song. On another, he aspired to be an author and illustrator when he grows up. He told my friends he learnt to make jelly ,dumplings, etc and could make for them. Once, he asked for brush and water colour and presented me with a Chinese brush painting artwork which I am proud of and which I pasted on the wall of my living room. Part of my living room displays are Ian’s lovely pottery objects done at the center, two of them were unfortunately broken by his sister. He shows off his ability to draw to his grandparents. And one thing for sure is that all art works which I treasure are genuinely made by Ian and not partly by his teachers.
Above all, Ian’s character development and his tremendous improvement in his social skills are definitely noticeable! -
Hi, what about the AMK branch?
Is it good? -
Hi,
Anyone can share your experience with amk branch or the newly open at One Pemimpin@bishan?
Appreciate that. Thanks! -
Personally, I think that we should let our children choose the centre instead.
They will be the ones going to school!
Once you have shortened down your shopping list of ''potential'' centres.
Bring your child to the centre.
Be alert of your child's reaction when they are inside the centre.
Make sure that teachers possess a Diploma in Montessori Method of Teaching for Montessori centres.
Do you see happy faces everywhere?
Kids are showing respect to the teacher?
Distance always tops my priority list.
Next will be healthy food & curriculum.
It has been 1 year since my boy switched over to Character Montessori AMK.
He has grown from a quiet & shy boy into a ''loud'', talkative & confident boy.
His teacher even told me that he is the ''歌王'' of PN2 class.
I will always remember when he said, ''妈妈,你很漂亮, ''I don't want to go home! I want to go to school and play with my friends!''
There was once during my birthday when my son asked me, ''Mummy, why you don't have friends?''
:scratchhead: And i realised that he said that because he had his group of 23 classmates with him during his birthday celebration in school!
It was really a joyous occasion, where all his friends wishes him happy birthday and he even earned a few kisses & hugs from some of the girls!
Also, I get to keep memorable pictures of him from the monthly updated blog of their daily life in school!
His teachers really shower him with lots of patience, especially with his milk feeding.
He has always refused milk after i stopped breastfeeding him.
We tried milk bottle to cup with straw and now finally, drinking from cup.
He managed to did it all by himself with the help & encouragements from the teachers!
He really loves to sing & dance.(thanks to the dance programme every thurs)
And, not forgetting his ''please & thank you'', ''May i? You're welcome!''
I am very pleased with his development in CM.
My eyes were set on CM when i saw the word ''Character''
Montessori is a bonus add-on.
Especially in the society now, many of the highly educated people are going down the wrong path.
I am looking forward to see more of the character traits in my child as he grows in CM.
Nothing else matters more than providing him with a secure & happy place for his precious childhood.
It takes both character + learning = success. -

Your son is very blessed to have good teachers.Unfortunately,my friend's gal and boy didn't have one. The gal was unprepared for her P 1 and the boy was ask to leave as teachers could not take control of him.Personally, I think that we should let our children choose the centre instead.

I want to say it is a right choice to send my son to CM AMK for his early childhood education. My husband and I find character building is very important to shape our next generation and we are happy to find CM AMK offers the educational philosophy and programme which suit our needs.
Gerrett has been with CM for 2 years plus and I can see his transformation through the guidance of dedicated teachers and staff. He used to be very shy and now he can share and play well with his classmates. I also enroll my daughter Germaine in CM AMK this year.
Apart from the curriculum, I would like to applaud the teachers and staff for their help and guidance along the way. They help to take my worries away and I am sure my kids are happy learning and playing there!!
