Yah i got that letter too, and was thinking why inform us so early? Then I thought maybe they want to give ks parents time to send their dd for GEP preparation classes lol... not my cup of tea definitely

Last year, there were 2-3 girls in my dd's class who opted not to do the tests. I think no harm in doing. If yr dds get in, you can still decline the offer if you change your minds later.

Actually I dont mind my dd taking the test, or even going into GEP if she really has the apptitude. I am just not for the idea of ppl who actually send their kids to classes 'prepare' for the GEP tests, to increase their chances of getting in etc. I mean , if u are gifted means u are gifted, why need to prepare??

Just to share something: last week my dd told me that she forgot to hand in her spelling book for the teacher to mark. So yest she gave me that book, and passed me a red pen, asking me to mark for her, as she is afraid the teacher will scold her for not handing up last week. I decided not to as it seems that she is asking me to fake the teacher’s markings? So i told her to tell the teacher that she didnt hand in last week, and the teacher can mark her last week’s spelling together with this week’s.

Did I do the right thing? And why is it that the teacher didnt realise my dd didnt hand in her book??

I want my dd to go into GEP, as I heard from my friend, that the GEP kids no need any outside tution, no need parents to accompany for study. What parents need to do for GEP student is to let them eat well and sleep well. That's my dream life... 😉

              Clever girl.

I think you did right. My DD forgot to bring her spelling book a few weeks ago, and her teacher ask her to stand during spelling time, and deducted 10 marks for not bring her spelling book. I like the way. As my dd always forgot something.
