GEP maths and science goes beyond the primary sch syllabus and include sec topics too.

I have one GEP kid at home ...

Oh.. so does that mean that their exams are more difficult ?

      Of course!

Actually other than able to go DSA, what is the advantages of going to GEP ?

Remember that school will be dismissed earlier tomorrow (12:30pm) for the swimming meet.

Btw for P4 parents, do all the girls have to be able to swim for this event? My P3 girl still cannot swim up till now

There's no basis for comparison between mainstream and GEP papers. The only time they take the same exam paper as the mainstream is during PSLE.

It is precisely because the 9 GEP centres take the same exams that DSA schools are able to see immediately how well a GEP kid performs in exams, and why they are able to offer them confirmed offers with confidence. That and of course the academic rigour, analytical thinking and other skills that GEP imbues in the kid that makes them very attractive to the DSA schools.

Advantage of GEP? For me, PSLE and DSA aren't the attractions of GEP. It's about harnassing a child's abilities and encouraging him to reach his fullest potential. It's the long term benefits rather than the short term goal of DSA.

GEP has standardised exam paper for the 9 gifted centres…and they have common tests and project works instead of the usual CA and SA…

It is not possible to coach GEP kids unless you already have another GEP kid at home and you know what to expect in the GEP curriculum… so basically the GEP kids learn from their teachers in school…

GEP journey is enriching for the kids and I can see that my kid at home is really enjoying the GEP journey… although it is challenging at time… with the different projects and datelines…

Don't worry, kids learn swimming very fast, 1 0r 2 month's learning, they can swim quite good.

So much discussion on GEP here. But only top 1% of the whole SG P3 can go.

It is not all game over if can’t get into GEP. In RGPS, students with better P3 results will be streamed to 4E/F class. I understand from other parents that the school also drill these 2 classes and majority of them go to RGS after PSLE.
