P1 Chinese - General Discussion

Yes, there are 3-4 different ways of testing CL spelling...from choosing what you think is correct, to filling in the different tones. Next week, I don't know why there is spelling on Wed and Friday. The rules are confusing.
Which means if we don't know the word and just based on listening, we will get the tones wrong. Like 蚂蚁,洗手,举手 etc. -
SPIES:
What I do is I read the words individually first to get the tones right. Have to write both words in 3rd tone eventhough pronouce it differently. The rules are confusing.

We are almost at the end of term 1 and I must say time really flies.
The hanyu pinyin for P1 is no joke. Kids with no or little prior knowledge will definitely struggle a bit… it’s really just hanyu pinyin all the way so far. However, practise makes perfect, my girl has certainly master quite a bit of hanyu pinyin now… -

So the sch is teaching from the basics... or doing the \"you should know already\" thingy? -

And I am not sure about how schools teach but I Strongly encourage parents to prepare the kids in K2 for this hanyu pinyin drilling session in P1. If not sure faint....
But if you look at the exercises my girl is doing in school, the kids are expected to be able to 认字. They have to be able to identify the hanyu pinyin with the right 汉字. -
Hi Mummies,
Sorry to disrupt the thread regarding assessment book.
Just wondering what titles/publishers you get for P1/2 Chinese. Maybe we can share useful titles instead of having to stand for hours at Popular combing through the shelves of books.
*Intensive Exercises for Primary 1 (Victoria Publications)
*Hanyu Pinyin for Primary 1 (Victoria Publications)
*Primary Chinese Practice 4+1 (EPH)
