tamarind, when I went to the WM branch yesterday, I couldn't find any copy at all so I asked a lady staff. She said that they don't have stock anymore and that the publisher is not printing anymore so what is available at the branches is the last of their stock. I confirmed with her that I could still order online while stocks last and she said yes. So I did. Now, I just need to wait for the e-mail confirmation letter to let me know when I can self-collect it.schellen:
I managed to find Books 3 & 4 of the series recommended by tamarind at JP Popular. I was actually expecting a thin, lightweight book due to the price at $5.90 each. Imagine my pleasant surprise when the book turns out to be thick and a bit heavy. Really value for money. Unfortunately, I couldn't find Books 1, 2 and 5 and only a few copies were left.
Popular bookstore is having 20% discount (ends today) . I also think it is really value for money. I got my full set by going to both Jurong Point and Woodlands Popular.
I think it is possible to shop for books at
http://www.popular.com.sg
Enter the following
ji chu han zi
You should see all 5 books. Now selling at $5.31 online. The website states that you can self collect at any Popular bookstore.

Hi Tamarind,
I've got 2 of the 4 titles (ie. 氓滸å³, äøåę¼ē¾©) that you had mentioned. Bought mine from Popular West mall branch in early June. You can try calling and check if they still have stocks.tamarind:
I also have not seen this before, sounds interesting.
Yes I found it at Popular bookshop at Jurong Point, but I am not sure whether there are any copies left at that branch.kaimono:
hi tamarind,
thanks for the chapter book recommendation - looks interesting with HYPY
is it also from popular ?
This series actually includes all the four great classical novels :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Great_Classical_Novels
氓滸å³
äøåę¼ē¾©
ē“ ęØ夢
脿éčØ
All four books are in the same style, chapter books with cute cartoon pictures and hanyu pinyin for every word. I bought ę°“ę»øå³ and 脿éčØ, still looking for the other 2 books.
This children's adaptation of 脿éčØ is the most exciting book for young children to read on their own, with the help of hanyu pinyin. The others may be more suitable for older children or teenagers.acforfamily:
My friend recommended me å°ē½é¾ magazines. Said that a lot of kids found it interesting and funny. Easy to read with hanyupinyin below for the difficult words.
I am looking for more Chinese chapter books for my girl. Any recommendations ?
Anyone else seen this before? -
For chapter/story books for young kids, I personally love \"Trisha & Sasha\" series children books. Its series has 3 levels - for age 4, 5 and 6. Simple sentences in big words, but storyline is interesting. However, it's rather hard to find, I bought it many yrs ago from a book exhibit. Dunno where they sell it now, but library has :
