      Janet,

Is the teacher production handbook for lower pri is in red cover? My girl school is using that book and i find it good too.

Do you have any idea popular sell that book?
I know Popular doesn't sell Teachers' Production, esp if the vendor is Pacific Bookstores. Sorry I have no idea what the colour of the book (lower primary) is, bcos my friend passed down a photocopied set.
Honestly the Teachers' Production handbook is very good as it has both Grammar & Vocab.

If you're going to the bookshop in Ghim Moh, get that one for lower primary. Honestly it's really good as it covers both P1-2.

HI Plum and Janet I must say I am very impressed with the 2 of you having spent so much tme to give us good advise on assesment books.

I might need your help as I am trying to prepare DD to P1 next year.

Thinking of buying the step up grammer so which book should I get for P1 (which step??), do all populars carry this book? and what is the book to be used for practise for grammer.. i read you recommend : conquer grammar as well to practice. What is the title of the practice book?

Any other good assessment books for comprehension for P1 and how about math and chinese? any good recommendation. I always seem quite lost whenever i go to popular not sure which books to buy...

Hope you can give me some advise.

                    Thanks in advace

Step up grammar is for students aged 6-11. there are 1-6 work books. since your child is 6yrs you can start from book 1. this book teaches the grammar in systematic way. each unit got lesson plan (in the front) which tells you abt. how to teach.

for p1,if you are looking for grammar guide then you can go for Basic english grammar/ mypals are here grammar guide.

please take all book in your hands and go through the pages and if you like it then buy.

conquer work books are for practice or target drill. because they have seperate books for each part.
ex. if you found that your girl is weak in grammar and you need more practice you can go for conquer grammar. if you think she needs more practice in cloze then you can go for conquer cloze.

I checked out Step up Grammar by Rosalind Fergusson. It's interesting and worth getting for P1/2 bcos there are pictures, and so kids find it more interesting as it's less 'wordy'.

The Conquer series may scare the kids off. 'My Pals Are Here' has a new series...avail in Vocabulary, Comprehension & Grammar. The cover looks like this.

Although my son is in P5, I am learning to buy assessment books for my daughter (P1) all over again.
