with the IP thing i hope they will still continue the affiliation. scared they will up the standard and be so academic focus

Of course they will continue the affiliation from primary to secondary school. The school will be offering two tracks - O levels and IP. IP will only be offered to the better students.

haha, i remember calling it the 'IPO' schools ...

CHS principal said this week that minimum for IP would be at least 250, altho' they are not 100% sure yet, but certainly at least 250.

MOE said IP is for the top 10% - 12% of the cohort, and it has been setting the 250 mark as the 10% cut off each year.........

Altho', in the same session, the Principal also mentioned that he feels that students having t-score around 250 are not quite suitable for IP, compared to those with 260. :?

Yes, even though affliated, it is good that St Nick primary school raise the COP for their girls - esp. for those who are keen to enter St Nick Secondary. Then it becomes fair that … those who want to go to St Nick Secondary know that … they should study hard for it, since nothing comes free.

Just like NYPS girls who want to enter into NYGH Secondary, they know that minimum score is 250 - this is not easy to score / achieve… let alone talk about scoring > 260. So NYPS girls study / strive hard towards achieving this goal, if they want to remain in NYGH.

because i have a friend who is teaching at CHIJ TPY.
she said COP in the past for CHIJ TPY was low … so, many girls take for granted that they can just walk easily across to next door, CHIJ TPY secondary. They think … never mind, no need to study hard … also can get in easily.

then end up come to IJ TPY Secondary, my friend said very hard to teach these girls. Some even face disciplinary issues like … go shopping centres caught stealing … some steal not because they are poor, but because peer group pressure says … for the thrill / fun of it… this type of wrong mentality.

looks like moving forward / ahead, the direction is like … those good primary schools in SG with IP path to Secondary - must score at least 250 to 260, before the child can get in.

                this is a tall order!

i think average psle student score normally hover around 22+, 23+, or 24+ score.

to score >250, >260, the kid must be both bright, hardworking, willing to study, with a spirit of positive learning and self-discipline.

Yes, recall that top China girl from that Qifa primary school ?

before she top, no one notice this school much.
but after she top the whole of SG, this primary school became hot, in the eyes of media.
