          Hi Shn,

No, I don’t think you are overly worried. Now tht SA1 is out, if his result hovers around border line, it may be indication of deeper root cause.

              Hi Cocoa,

If you have read thru this whole topic about Dyslexia, all the mums are giving good advices and websites to find out and identify about Dyslexia.

Go to specialist to get diagnose by them if there is a chance that you or school teacher suspect your kid is having this problem. If result is negative, you will be relief. It's best to discover early.

              - Dyslexia is difficulty in learning to read.
              - Dyslexia can be related to brain injury, hereditary, or hormonal influences.
              - Letter and number reversals are a common warning sign of dyslexia.
              - Diagnosis of dyslexia involves reviewing the child's processing of information from seeing, hearing, and participating in activities.
              - Treatment of dyslexia ideally involves planning between the parent(s) and the teachers.

Anyway, I personally felt Dyslexia children are very talented. They have their right sided brain trained to overcome with their weakness.

I have a friend who's son has Dyslexia, send him to DAS twice a week, attending primary school as per normal, and getting private tutor to guide whatever subjects that the boy is weak in. Must find a very patient tutor of course. So far the boy is doing very well, friendly and chatty. Just need help in academic. Hmm.... Most of the children also need help academically.

                    Hi Vin Kang,

Same here, my DS is diagnosed to be dyslexic last year Apr 2008. Since then he has been attending DAS. This year his Pri 4 SA1 english result was 55 marks and we did not see any improvement. However, come to year end, his SA2 has gotten 73 marks and he is very happy and looks forward to attend the DAS twice a week. Met up with DAS's teacher and she mentioned my DS has improved.

I guess you have to be patient and give DAS time to help your son. I always tell my son this quote: \"Talent + Attitude = Outcome\" . My DS might not have the talent in english language but we parent must help him in the area of right attitude and we will be able to see a positive outcome.

                    God Bless!
