All About Full-Time Maids

This maid work for me for 6th mths already, she is not clever type but i always think she is hardworking…Her cooking also not gd but to me I always felt that cooking need practise, so I close both eyes. She very forgetful, so I wanted her to write down in a notebook, but she even forget to write, I had to remind her to write it, but at the end she forget to read on the notebook, I still tolerate her as I really scare to change maid.


I always busy, so never notice any dirtiness, only very particular on my own toilet, and yet scolded her for 3 times on toilet too dirty. One day when my hubby using the master toilet, i hightight ma go use the common toilet, aiyo nearly fainted… once step in can smell bad smell, then whole floor is wet, I sit on my toilet bowl n look around, there is mould all round the toilet tiles, then I was very unhappy, when i stand up and wanted to flush the toilet bowl, i saw there is dirt behind, so I shouted for her, then I asked her when she wash toilet, she said tis morning, I was very mad, I wanted to take up the cover plate that we normally sitting on the bowl, wow…it stick on the bowl n i pull hard top open then notice there is urine stain on it, so long time never wash so the plate stick onto the bowl…I was so damn fedup. The next thing i see was urine stain at the back. I get so work up and asked her, how she washed? Just washed will the plate stick to bowl?? She told me she never even open up the plate…can you stand that?? Then I asked her how about the shower room, the tiles all mould…she said she did washed but cannot come out, but when i try it can be remove… Another thing was my daughter new cloth just wore once, she iron till burn, my new pant just buy also iron till 1 batch 1 batch…All these happened, I still never think of transfered her… Even cny I bring her along go genting holidays, what my kids play, she did followed, what we eat, she also get to eat. Before I go for this trip already told her must recognise all the new cloths plus all ppl underwear and pantis, but she still bring wrong one back cos after the genting trip we go back my hometown, so when my kids blame her, she still complain was my son fault, i so angry but also don’t want to make things big. Then when I felt like cooking by inviting my best friend over for our new yr meal, when I take out a pot, and the pot full off white mould, I very fedup, cos still new yr ma, so don’t want scream at ppl, so just said piang!! how horrible, can you please don’t be so dirty or not, go washed… then when I need to take the dark sauce, i open the cabinet i saw the bottle all with black sauce and when I carry up, the plastic cover also all sauce, so I take out the plastic and wash and the bottom also black sauce, even the wall of the cabinet which place the dark sauce also got, so I clean, but due to i had limited time as my guess coming, so i just told her make sure she clean the rest of the tray. While I was cooking I washed my dish as well, so I saw the tray that put my plate and let it drip dried, the below had 1 more tray to collect water that drip from all dishes… whole tray full of mould…I was very upsad, so I close my eyes and told her, now i no time for all these noncense, please clean this tomorrow as well, make sure do it I will checked. Then continue cooking.

While eating that meal, I still complain to my best friends…But still I never think of changing her. Then the next day, when i came back from work, I asked her had she done the thing I asked her to do, she stare at me, I said the cabinet and the tray, she said nope… Piang!! I so angry this round really can’t control even I know was still cny… I asked her why, she said she forget. Then I asked her what the hell she doing for whole day, she just any how point my living room, so I stand up and walk over to living rm, but before i reached that place, I turn and asked her, this will be last chance I asked her, did she clean, yes then said yes, if no, please said no…I hate ppl lie. She still insisted yes, so I just go to any of my cabinet and use my hand sweep on the top, dust stick on my palm, so I asked her, is that what you mean clean? then point to another cabinet beside said not this one, is that one. this time I take out 1 item, did she clean this one, she knock her head, so i do the same and dust stick on my palm. So I this round really can’t control and shout at her, did she clean, she then said no…I was very mad and few days don’t talked to her, really considering to change her or not… But I also very scare, cos I change many maid, indo, filipino I also tried, but some steal, some very dirty, some not here to work…May be because here really noone at home, kids all old enough, 17,15,10. so too gd life…too freedom… last time when my kids at 8mths, I had 1 maid work for me 7 yrs, but now really can’t find maid like that… I really can’t think of no maid, cos my kids all will came home for dinner, even me and my hubby. I tried no maid for 1.5 mths, whole family begged me to intake a maid…cos all need to study/work and yet need to housework, really very stress…LOL

Here I hope someone there can give me some advice…I really very worries and loss…If you ask me to make decision on my work, that’s really simple, but not on these kind of domestic issue… Please help!!

My maid has been with me for 10 years - yes, 10 years! she has been the taking care of my DD since birth. And extremely protective of my DD. She has 3 kids back home and needed the monies to cater for their education. Well, with us for 10 yearsm thereby she can afford to buy land, build house and continue catering for her kids. Told us that she will continue as long as we need her:)! Great to have her!

Which country she from and are you affected by the recent pay-hike? Or what is your secret in retaining her? Pay, perks etc?

get rid of maid, get part time maid, get dinner delivery for the next few months. this give you time to find a long term solution.


the above works only if you could find someone who can babysit your kids during the day or send your kids to student care centre (before or after school).

good maid is hard to comeby especially if there is no one to supervise her work daily.

dont lose heart, keep your sanity.

You really should change the maid. She’s not helping you to clean the house at all. Think about it, if you send her away, will your house be any dirtier? From the sound of it, I don’t think so. Worse case, what if you get food poisoning or skin diseases from her unhygienic ways? As LOLMum said, send her away, and tahan with temp maid and food delivery for a while.

Huh!! I never think of that… I always thought if give them chance, they will appreciate. My kids old enough to take care of themselves as eldest 17, then 15, only 10 yrs old boy need someone accompany when back from school. O did tried no maid for 1.5 mths, I will be very stress as I need rush hm for ironing cos they everyday need to wear uniform. Worst thing is when I go oversea for my business trip, came back with the hse like world war 3. Even my hubby too used to hv maid. That’s why I keep tolerate with this maid. But now I need to think of what u guys said, which I never think of that…

You’ve had her for 6 months already and from the sound of it she’s not trying at all. Some maids appreciate your giving them the chance and they’ll try harder. Some aren’t appreciative. Yours sounds like she’s not trying at all, sad to say.

If ironing and uniform is your concern, you can always make arrangements for the part time maid to cover that as well.
I do agree with jtoh, I think your maid toyed around you long enough..

Transfer the maid immediately.


Interim as per what many have suggested, get a caterer to settle the dinner for weekdays. Meanwhile, get a part-time weekly maid to come in once a week over 4 to 5 hours to iron clothes, mop the floor and wash the toilets…

If your kids are already in kindergarden and above, get them to be involved too, like making sure their own rooms are tidy, etc.

Haiz… I did tried catering food before, the menu also limitted and actually not cheap for 5 persons. I also had partime maid as well, 4 hrs for $50 then 2 times a week, so 1 mth need to pay $400 plus the catering food will cost me a lot. That’s why we go back to maid lo. My kids will also help up, but ho you know la… play 1 hr do 20 mins…at the end they all can stand the dirty but I can’t so I will be the one working as maid lo. My work need travel, so when i step into the house, will felt like diying cos look like world war. Yet my 2 boys and hubby felt ok, is I fussy…headache.

More argue more scolding to kids and hubby, that’s why decided to take back maid. But this already my 10 maids for my pass 4 yrs. Now maid like queen, 1 only came 1 day and pack and said wanted to leave my hse the next morning just because she don’t want use hand wash cloth. 1 worst, still owe agent money but don’t want to work, when I was in business trip, get to know I came back at nite and ran to "HOME" on the afternoon. I need to clear loan on her behave and yet need buy her ticket let her go hm. Some steal, some sleep in the afternoon and never do work and yet lie. 1 when told her off with her mistake and she cried and sit on the floor row. Many many stories… I think may be problem came from myself, I really did lean back and asked myself, I tried to adjust myself but yet can’t get a maid which really appreciated…Like this transfer maid with me, last employer only give her eat rice with sugar or salt, I thought like that here so gd life should know appreciate, but really feel maids all no heart…I know you guys said is true, I should consider to drop idea of having maids. 5 persons at hm, if don’t wash and iron everydays sure cannot, but to bring partime everyday, I can’t effort. My working hr also can’t let me have so much time for all these. Really very tired… My friends said I had tried Indo, fil liao, may be should try Myanmar. But many people also said communication problem, so I really don’t know what to do… This maid I do agree that I had given too many chances, if she appreciate me will not like this, so to sent her away will be definite answer…I really appreciate with all your comments, at least I now feel is normal that to sent this kind of maid away, not because I fussy…

2 of my friends hv tried Myanmar maids but found them unsuitable as well.


1st case - the maid refused to do hse wk and always lock herself in the rm. She said she came to Spore is to work n study but not as a maid. She only cook food the way she like and ate the son’s drumstick n chocolates.

2nd case - very lazy, dirty n cant communicate

Actually employing maids really depends on luck. I seriously think u shd change ur maid. Maybe u will get a good one this time.
