Hi i3mum,Hi MMM,

My P4 and P3 are currently with Lcentral. They switched from BC after 2 years. Think we are very patient.
This is my P4's 2nd term and my P3's 1st term. So I can't comment much in terms of results at this point. As you know, you cannot expect them to do wonders overnite to language. There are still alot of area of improvement that my kids need to fix it themselves. But what I like about Lcentral is as follows :
* They are academic. The kids have spelling everyweek.
* They have structured materials that they do each week. Grammar exercises, etc.... The teachers will mark them and provide suggestions.
* They do compo and compre though might not be every week due to time.
* Native speakers so they are less likely to be hearing singlish speaking teachers.
My only confidence/ desire to try the program came from my mum's friend's son. He studied in one of the top primary schools and he did Lcentral from P4 - P6. He also switched from BC. Though he is not the top of cohort type but his PSLE scores was decent and he is currently in Chung Cheng Main.
For us, we are still monitoring the situation. -
Hi MMM,
Thanks for getting back to me:)
I agree they are very academic, my DD in K2 also have spelling every week.
I read in another post that there is an experienced teacher specialized in teaching English and it is near my place: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1131&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=90
I am contemplating whether to start my DD, as we will save time ferrying her ( and in future with my 2 other children). But then the con is I find it quite costly- $55 per lesson.MMM:

Thanks. BTW, which class is your K2 attending? I am thinking of switching my K2 for April class as well.Hi, I registered for my kids yesterday, you can check with LCentre.
thanks alot.
She is currently with Jan & Elly which she will complete her advanced phonics by June. She is also with LW english enrichment since K1. This helped her to read independently and introduce to more words but I feel that LW is not academic enough for P1 so I've been on the lookout. She just did the assessment and she has to do liftoff. Some part might be repetition but overall I think it's a good introduction given the comprehension, etc.... Though she knows her blending, it doesn't come automatically yet. So yes, most likely I've to switch her in order to ensure that she completes her lift off program by yr end so she is well placed for success program in P1. That means I've to give up my deposit in LW. -

I suppose you have to gauge for yourself based on your child's development. Does the program really help your child, is he learning and how is he compared to peers. So far, I find their materials solid but I know we all learnt through trial and errors along the way to see what works best for our child.Hi MMM,

Expensive doesn't mean it's good. What works for one might not work for another. I signed up my 2 older kids at TLL and while waiting for a place and put them at Lcentral first. Anyway no news from them and I am not bothered too. If Lcentral works for them, I will not move. To me, we don't need an expensive program, we need an effective program that works for them. -
I agree with you, one work for one, may not work for another. Will monitor and decide again.
