      Hi Tinkerbelle,

Thanks for info :). Appreciate it.

      Tinkerbelle:
      Gin:

      Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how schools grade their students? How come some schools have got Foundation English or Foundation Chinese and how does one get into the different levels?

      Thanks for your help! πŸ™‚

      Hi Gin,
All pri sch have Foundation classes now but it only starts in P5. In line with MOE's initiative, Subject-based banding have since replaced EM3 stream in 2008. Based on the child's P4 results of each subject, the sch will recommend the level (Standard or Foundation) your child should take for each subject in P5.

Majority of the students will go on to do Standard levels for all subjects. However, students who are weaker in any subjects will be recommended to take their weaker subjects at Foundation levels and for subjects they are stonger in at Standard levels. In other words, the student can have a mix of standard and foundation subjects. To quote an example, if the student is weak in 3 core subjects but is good in MT, the student can take all 3 core subjects at Foundation levels and take MT at the Standard level. That way, students who are weak in any subject can learn at a pace that is more suited to their needs in the Foundation level and at the same time, have the opportunity to stretch his/her potential in the subjects they excel in at the standard level.
      Gin:
How are students from different categories 'grouped' when it comes to admission into Secondary Schools?
Students taking subjects at standard levels will progress to \"Express\" or \"Normal (Academic)\" streams in sec sch based on their PSLE scores. Previously, EM3 student tend to move on to Normal (Technical) but with Subject-banding, Foundation level students who are taking some subjects at Standard levels may have a chance to take these subjects at standard levels at sec sch.

      Hope my explanation helps.

                Hi WorriedParent74 and ahappymum,

Thanks for info! Now my friend does not need to look out for Tanjong Katong PS anymore :). However, I heard that TKPS is quite an nice place. Is it true? Any idea? I heard that the students there happy kids and more relaxed as the school is using 'creative and fun' ways of teaching. My friend is trying to persuade me to go have a look at the place. Hee hee. I am for Marymount and she is for TKPS :).

My DD2 currently in N2 oso drinks 3 bottles daily (excluding wat she drinks at hm). Guess tats y they nv had any constipation prob. πŸ˜‰

My concern now is DD1 don't seem to finish even 1 bottle since started P1. 😞

                    autumn82:

Hmm.. My gal also has this problem abt drinking lesser water since P1! She usually drinks like 2L++ daily but ever since started P1, hardly even finish 1L daily. Haizz..
                    Hi cantbearit2 & autumn82,

Not drinking enough water is common in pri sch as the sch imposes rules like \"No drinking in the classroom\" thus many children can only drink water during recess & PE. That's way our gals can't finish their water.

I just asked her today if her teacher allows drinking water in classroom. She said yes, if you wanna drink water, raise 1 finger. If wanna go ladies, raise 2 fingers.

Tsk, my gal has been nursing her cough since the start of P1 until now, I hope she gets well soon.. This Mar hols, will pump her with more water & rest! πŸ˜‰[/quote]My DD also been having this phelgm cough for over 2 months now. Took a few types of medicine all no use. Brought her to another clinic yesterday and doc said she has Bronchitis. 😞 Given 5 bottles of medicines and MC to rest. Good thing is I din hear her cough at all this whole morning!!! Wow the medicines are really amazing. Thanks to her friend's mom who recommended me this clinic.

Did you bring your gal to see Doctor? Hope she will recover soon.

For P2 parents, did any of your DD received a letter from Form Teacher about attending either Enrichment or Remedial Classes for Math / English for a period of 6 weeks?
