i realized that there is no chinese cartoons on any mediacorp channels?! am i missing something?

There are chinese cartoons on every Saturday and Sunday mornings on Channel 8.

Mummy of 2, did u see improvement in ur kids Chinese. I read some china parents comments, Haa they don't quite encourage their kids to watch the cartoon, they prefer to buy the books. But I guess for sin parents we r glad our kids willing to watch Chinese prog.

My kids like the 阿虎, dog cartoon that is after 喜羊羊。

They begin to speak with slight China accent, and their vocab is of higher standrad than before. Is that the kind of improvement you are looking for? :?

Btw my kids are in preschool, so no formal assessment whereby I can gauge if there is improvement, in terms of marks. I am also using SiWu KwaiDu, and my DD, who is in nursery, has more or less finished book 1. I'm happy with her progress where word recognition is concerned.[/quote]
喜羊羊 cartoons are excellent for kids to learn conversations in mandarin. The Mandarin pronunciation in the cartoon is perfect

i read some where that ur gal was attending Montessori phonics b4, may I know is she attening those daily 3 hr program or enrichment once per week? because i am thinking sending my boy to montessori to learn phonics.

phankao, yes I do have the Sing to Learn DVD! Looks fun! I will put it on more often from now. I just bought Little Pim (Chinese) so I will start my son on that too.


phankao and cimman - Yes, agree that Mandarin playgroup would be good. My son will be doing one more term of Bilingual Playclub, after that, he will be old enough to join Edudrama, and I have opted for Mandarin Edudrama for him, so hopefully that will help!

My girl attended Montessori phonics 4 years ago, many things might have changed now. Also, this class requires kids to sit still and do worksheets for 1 hour. Although my girl liked that when she was 4 years old and my friend also told me that her girl liked the class, one mommy in this forum complained that her son hated it. That is why I do not recommend the class any more.

You are welcome Just ask around in local video shops in the major shopping malls, you should be able to find the videos.
