        Hi all,

Anyone could help me solve the following problem. Looks easy but couldn't figure out the differences.

May had six more 50-cent coins than 20-cent coins. After she used eight 50-cent coins, the value of the 50-cent coins is $7.40 more than the value of 20-cent coins. How many coins did she have at first?

        Many thanks, :?

          Hi

Only have time for a quick solution.

After she used eight 50-cent coins, she had two more 20-cent coins than 50-cent coins.

Equalise the number of 20-cent coins and 50-cent coins.

          740 + 100 -----840

Now, the value of the 50-cent coins is $8.40 more than the value of 20-cent coins.

          Difference in value between coins ------- 50 - 20 ------ 30
          Therefore, number of 20- cent coins -------840/30 ------ 28

She had (28+6) ------34 50-cent coins at first.

Therefore, she had (28+34) or 62 coins at first.

          Best wishes

                Hello,

Kelly had 5100 beads. 20% of them were red. After Carol gave her some more red beads, the percentage of red beads increased to 40%.
How many red beads did Carol give Kelly?
                (model ans 6800)
                Thanks.

                Cheers,
                Belle.

                  Hi Belle

                  Good Morning.

I believe you are just checking the answer.

6800 is the total number of beads after the addition of some red beads.

Carol gave 1700 red beads to Kelly.

                  Best wishes

                      Hi Belle

                      You're welcome.

                      Yes, my answer is 1700.

But I’ve to sound it out; I am not a sifu, so use my answer with your eyes wide open.

I am just a victim of circumstances.

                      Best wishes
