LKVM:
wow thats really a good steal maybe u could have bought more and have tried the mango jam

:imanisland: Hello LKVM... Wow, I wonder how many mangoes I will need to make jam. Do you have any idea? -
I made dh buy 12 mangos from NTUC at a go.
They were in a variation of yellows to greens, because he wisely thought that we won't be finishing all 12 mangos at one sitting. The greener mangoes are all lined up prettily on my washing machine, while the ripe yellow ones are waiting in the crisper for dinnertime!

Happy Mama:
Ya I was surprised too! Was expecting those mangoes to be overriped and shrivelled, since the promotion was already on for so many days... but it turned out otherwise! After I paid for the mangoes, I saw the lady replenish with more stock and very nice ones too.

Ya, I was surprised too when I saw them again yesterday and that was why I decided on spot that I just had to get another 18 more!

See, what did I tell you? :cheeky: Too late to regret unless you want to make another trip to get some more while the promotion is still on?
Alternatively, you can come down to NTUC @ NEX where it is open for 24 hours! :siam: And maybe we can meet for supper? Real supper, not E-supper!  -

LKVM and Happy Mama, before I answer any question, think both of you are a bit hungry, so let me feed you first to satisfy your tummies before I say anything! :heresmyfish: :spank:Calling Maid... calling Maid... Your expertise is needed. :udawoman:
Okay, now to serious business.
That's the thing about making jams. Very difficult to estimate how much puree or how much sugar to add as it's very difficult to tell the sweetness/sourness of the fruits so while I don't have a tried and tested recipe for jams, I always use 'agar-logy method' to estimate the amount of fruit puree and sugar to throw in, so cannot really advise you how much fruit to puree, but based on experience, all I can say is that you need a lot of fruits to get enough puree for the breadmachine to work properly. You remember how little Mandarin Orange jam I got out of the so many Mandarin oranges that I used for the jam?
But the jam recipe is very simple - fruit puree and sugar, that's all.
Another thing why I have not made mango jam so far is because I feel that it is very 'wasted' to use the mangoes for jam when we prefer the wholesome goodness of the fruit itself. Like I told Happy Mama the other day, I prefer to eat my mangoes as they are for the Vitamin C and not that interested in the by-products of mangoes, eg, puddings, jams, cakes etc. -
