Syllabus can complete esp if using pathetic school textbooks.
But cannot guarantee passing...pupils need to read extensively if they want to do well.

:salute: well said Janet. I agree its true.

Daughter brought home her English worksheets...one of which is on Animals body coverings and I was like :? isn't this Science ? P3 Diversity chapter on Animals and their body coverings like fur, scales and hair.
Ok, I am convinced to get the Conquer Science in June (20% discount).

Son had a question for his P5 CA1 Science. What is the function of the umbilical cord ? That isn't taught in his textbook, although there is a chapter on 'Reproduction in Humans'.

I bought My Pals are here science books for P3/P4 to have an Idea. Its very thin compare to thoes assesment books. My school is using iScience.
I am not exposed to the science Qs. might download the science past papers to find it out.

Janet, in that case, what I am thinking is why don't you go for the sec.science books. I think sec science books might have some deeper knowledge and functions. where he can read and get some idea. only thing is you have to hunt for the relevant books.

          Hi plum-cake,

I read past year questions from other schools to have a feel what questions related to the topic can be tested. Then I print out the questions and fill in the answers.

Secondary school books will be rather too difficult. The PSLE Ultimate Science does provide some good explanations for some experiments too.

            Hi!

I attended the seminar conducted by Just Education last week and learnt quite a few useful tips to share.

Before parents go on to buy piles of assessment books for the children, you got to really observe/assess the needs/level of the children first. If the children are not scoring well, is it due to the weak concept/misconception on the topics or is it due to the lack of answering techniques? Not advisable to push the children to do all the challenging questions drilling on the answering techniques if foundation/conceptual framework is lacking. This will further demoralize them with the incapability to comprehend the questions.

They have quite a number of assessment books titles selling in popular.

Just Education Clinic or Power Guide Series - building foundation / concepts
Just Education Creative Series - with foundation in place, looking for database/inferential question
Just Education Distinction Series - with foundation in place, ready to attempt challenging questions

anyone has other titles to share?

                Hi Janet,
I think Science is really a \"big & wide\" subject to explore! I cannot resist myself from buying Science Assessment Book especially if I spot one that I have not combed through before

Saw the above in a bookshop in Jurong West area and stood there for about 15 minutes to read the content. Think the shop lady was monitoring me from her CCTV over at the counter

When back home, DD1 saw me came in with the \"new addition\" and said,\"Mummy went shopping on Assessment Books again! Poor Me - I have \"new baby\" to milk feed lioa!\" :rotflmao:
Told her I will study the book 1st before letting her attempt to it and she gave me a most loving, wonderful smile :dancing: :dancing:

Science is really a subject which is 'wide'...first need to know understand process and concepts, second how to answer the questions according to what examiner wants.

One word of advice...be careful with the answers provided for EPH. It's confirmed that some answers are wrong. Oh yes, we went to Popular Expo yesterday during 'Member' period 10-3pm. Stayed for an hour...so crowded. Bought the Conquer Science for P1/2...hope to prepare my gal for foundation this year so as not to stress her too much at end of P2.

                    Hi Janet,
Once again = thanks for your precious advice; appreciates.:hugs:

Oh, you went to the Popular Expo on Friday? So besides the Conquer Science P1/2, did you get other books as well? πŸ˜‰ Really tough being a parent - on one hand tell myself,\" Hold it! You are buying too much assessment/guide books but on the other hand unable to resist the temptation to buy and buy.\" :stupid:

You are a very dedicated and hardworking mummy - besides coaching your buy with the crucial P5, you still have to manage your P1 gal's work. Kudos to you :celebrate:

                      Hi Champion,

Yes, I can't agree more...always have to ask myself 'Do you need it now ? Control. The temptation is so great.'
No choice, have to manage P1 gal as hubby cannot handle her...but I 'outsource' the learning of spelling to him as it's too tiring to manage every aspect.

Bought 2 assesment books for daughter...one is a Maths heuristic by Andrew Er and Joanne Er, while the other is Conquer Science. Wanted to get Chinese but decided to hold on till year end either BookFest (Dec) or 20% at Popular.

                      This is not bad.

We could have rub shoulders there πŸ˜‰

I can't find the Science process skill assessment at expo.
How is Conquer Science different from Science process skill book? Same publisher
