      HI Mummies,

EL worksheets just returned for parents to sign...Synthesis & Transformation was taught using 'because' Tenses like present, past, continuous not taught yet.

Principal advised parents in letter to revise what has been taught in Term 1. For Term 2, the girls will be taught to write a sentence using the helping words for 6 separate pictures.

      Hi Janet,
Ye same as mine... she got a notebook as well for grammar. to do more grammar practices. Last yr is also the same.

      Hi plum-cake,
I'll be reinforcing what teacher taught in Term 1...she can forget topics like articles, pronouns as well as punctuation and proper nouns. My gal can forget capital letters and mistake a question for a sentence sometimes.

My DS2 (will be 6 in July 2011) has been learning the starter words from the MOE 2001 Eng Syllabus. I was wondering if there are any sites with more vocab lists for P1 and P2? If anyone has a link, can you respond to this post, please?

U may wish to refer to the Dolch words which are the most frequently used words in books that children read, and children by P1 should try to learn to recognize these words by sight: http://www.dolchword.net/dolch-frequency-word-list.html

            Hi plum-cake,

If there is SA2 for P2, what title of Eng assessment book would you get to prepare your daughter ? Would it be 1) Challenging English 4-in-1 by M.Rani or 2) Primary 2 Complete Practice Book for Grammar, Vocabulary & Comprehension by Josephine Yeo or 3) Home Study English (Study Helpers) by Loh Tee Yang ?

            Thanks.

Fortunately the P2 books I have for her is just 8 books.
Yup the P2 Complete Practice Book is by Josephine Yeo (EPH). It has CA1 and 2, SA1 and 2. Went through Loh Tee Yang's Home Study 1 and found it's not bad and that other one is the English Practice.

BTW, there is this mummy whom I talked to regarding assessment books at Popular last night. She loves to check out new publications (like us) although her son is in K2.

I would recommend the following electronic dictionary, my P2 DS uses it, and I think he could have used it in P1 (he detests manual dictionaries). This one is superb and has synonyms and anntonyms too. It is inexpensive too, some £31 GBP or about $90 SD.
