Hi Lizhi! Yes, same sentiments! I was really surprised to hear the feedback from my gal on how the tutor coached her ..and the tonnes of homework she loaded onto my gal was really uncalled for .. rote learning

Hi Janet, no problem ๐Ÿ™‚ I finally confirmed with the new tutor this evening. Wanted to terminate the services of this exsiting tutor this thursday ( i.e. to complete 2 more lessons before ending it ) but tutor didn't \"allow\" and said I must give one month notice and pay her the fee till the month end whether or not I want her service. I was a little taken a back honestly, because I was not aware of this \"policy\" but nevertheless, I will just continue till month end. In fact, the tutor told me I can stop her services after next week, but just pay her the full month fee.

On the other hand, the new tutor spotted a mistake that the current tutor made, some chinese characters that my gal has written wrongly but was not corrected by tutor .. also, my gal had a chance to do a comparison between the tutor versus the new tutor, and feedbacked that the new tutor bother to explain the mistake in comprehension, and guided her through reading the comprehension passage and making sure my gal understand the entire passage .. while the current tutor usually leave it to my gal to read the passage on her own and answer the questions, and if there are mistakes, she will provide the correct answer to my gal to write down (correction) which half the time did not provide explanation to my gal as to why the responses my gal gave were wrong ..

No explanation, just do the answers...even if she does many many excersises, but she does not learn much. :x This is ไบ‹ๅ€ๅŠŸๅŠ.

Trying to let my ds read more Chinese model compositon, any good guide book on Chinese Model compo to recommend? Thanks!

Chance upon from another thread, think it's good but havent' got a copy for my boys yet. Try look out : http://search.dangdang.com/search_pub.php?key=%D0%A1%D1%A7%C9%FA%BB%F1%BD%B1%D7%F7%CE%C4%B4%F3%C8%AB

My girl used to score avg 16/20 for her P3 CL compo. This year (P4), her first 2 compo scored at 11/20 and 10/20 shocked me. I read through, although I find that the 'twist' element is not there, grammatically, she is ok. She used some ๆˆ่ชž,่ซบ่ชžas well as some ไฟ—่ชž(from the ้ป˜ๅฏซ), but, obviously, these were not good enough for her CL teacher this year. I spoke to him during this PTC, he suggested read ๅคงๆ‹‡ๆŒ‡, and that he was not in favour of them to read model compo books from the market. I suppose he was refering to P4 level, maybe a level or 2 higher should be good enough, but that is my guess. I requested that he provides the class with some model writings from the class itself so that we agar know what standard he is looking at.

Before receiving those model writings, I used 2 days during the past 1 week to coach her to use some great phrases flexibly. Make the stories more interesting....with twists to inject some emotions. I am waiting anxiously for her Holiday homework CL compo piece to come back. Hopefully, he is not asking for more, if not, my girl sure cannot handle.

There are 1 handbook for CL compo that I like to use. It is the ็ปดๅคšๅˆฉไบšๅ‡บ็‰ˆ็คพ็š„ๅฐๅญฆ็”Ÿไฝœๆ–‡ๅฅฝๅธฎๆ‰‹------ๅฅฝ่ฏๅฅฝๅฅ. It is also available in public lib.

100% agree. Since I totally set my focus on PSLE, it doesn't matter to me if P1-2 has exams or not. And since I don't want to tio stress like the rest of the parents here, I certainly prefer that there is no exam during the said period.

Maybe php is rite. I only has stomach for only one exam .... PSLE. Haha

Then your must be having a real BIG stomach.... ๐Ÿ˜“ ๐Ÿ‘…

In order not to have a BIG stomach, I think exam cannot be cancelled, but it is best not to have homework. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰
Don't Worry, Bro Mark Always Claim He Has Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig Stomach (Physically) in ALL the Post ....

May I check if a collar pin (such as the conduct pin, avid reader or cca pin) is lost, any chance of getting a replacement?
Hi Janet,

Was the tutor good, as in having good track records of producing A/A star students ? I guess 40 for an hour is acceptable to me if the teacher is able to produce the results , but too bad, my current tutor insisted on 2x a week.

                      Hi hl124273,
I deleted contact of that prev tutor as I find she is not worth keeping...if she is good, I wouldn't get another tutor.

On the other hand, the new tutor spotted a mistake that the current tutor made, some chinese characters that my gal has written wrongly but was not corrected by tutor
Hi hl124273,
My prev tutor didn't teach my daughter the proper way of learning hanyu pinyin :stupid: ...to her, as long as can read the sentence, my daughter knows when actually she doesn't understand what she is reading:x

My gal was so happy thinking she knows everything when actually she memorizes the format of the hanyu pinyin in textbook...for eg, in the textbook, it is 'ai ei ui'. But if write 'ei' on the paper, she doesn't know what it is. So the present tutor asked me to write each hanyu pinyin on flash card to teach her and not in sequence.
