      Hi Tianzhu,

      a) \tFrom the above observation, since cabbage and meat were given as food, we can infer that Q is a carnivore as the mass of cabbage in its cage remained the same after the experiment. Its mass reduced as it only ate the meat up and was not able to eat the cabbage …probably ended starving.
      \t
\tBased on the same line of thought, P is likely to be a omnivore as it must have finished up the meat and ate 10g of cabbage….which probably explained why its mass remained constant.

\tThen R is likely a herbivore, since it ate the most amount of cabbage. But I cannot understand why its mass dropped by 20g ….since there is still so much cabbage left to be eaten!!!

\tIf only meat was given, R will die while P and Q will survive.

      b)\tPlant  R P  Q

Anyone to share your thoughts please

      I believe \"Mass of Animal\" should have been \"Mass of Meat\"

      a) Herbivore, P will die after two weeks.

      b) P (Herbivore) --> R (Ominivore) --> Q (Carnivore)

        Help!

Q44 The diagram shows two beakers, X and Y, which contain 60ml (beaker X) and 120ml (beakerY) of water respectively. Both beakers of water have been left in the Sc Lab for at least an hour. The water in both beakers is at 29 degree.

        (a) Does the water in both beakers have the same amount of heat?
        (b) Compare the time taken to heat both beakers of water to boiling point?

        TIA.

        a) No, both beakers have different amount of heat.
        b) Beaker Y, containing more water, will take longer to reach boiling point.

          Thanks.

If you add the same amount of cold water into the different beakers of water, the final temperature will be different. Hence they have different amount of heat.

                Hi

                Temperature and Heat

Often, we come across some everyday words that we use regularly, but which have very precise meanings in science.

Catch hold of a copy of PSLE Revision Guide from MPH and refer to pg 112 and 113.

Heat makes things hot and is a form of energy. The temperature of an object is to do with how hot or cold it is, measured in degrees Celsius.

Get it Right on pg 113 explains why more heat is required to heat the larger volume of water to the same temperature.

There should be sufficient information on these two pages to answer your question.

I am inclined to believe that there is certain degree of ambiguity in this MCQ question.

Q1) Organism A is most commonly found in leaf litter and rotting log community. Which one of the following organisms is Organism A most likely to be?

                  1) Earthworm
                  2) Ant
                  3) Grass
                  4) Bracket Fungus

Have a go at it.I’ll reveal the answer from the assessment book after hearing your view.
