Students taking Higher Chinese in IP
-
expans:
If you pass HCL at O levels in Sec 4, you will be exempted from Chinese in JC.My son is in Sec 3. He is doing higher chinese but lacks passion in this subject. He told me that for students doing higher chinese, they will be allowed to sit for a 'national exam' for higher chinese in Sec 4 and if they pass, they can drop mother tongue subject in JC.
Does anyone has any idea on this? Thanks!! -

That's my understanding too.
But a friend who is a sec sch chinese teacher
told me only exempted from higher chinese,
the student still needs to take normal chinese in JC.
True? :? -
If students pass HCL for O level, they need not take Cl at JC level.

I think some schools such as HCI and RV set higher criteria, just passing is not enough. For HCI, I heard must score a min of B3, otherwise, still have to do CL at JC level. -

but isn't it not fair...the system should be the same across all schools right?sall:

Some schools (JC) offer different subject combinations which are not available in other schools. For some special MOE programmes, they are available in some schools but not others. Is it not fair? I am not sure, anyway, some say the world is never fairwonderm:

But in case they don't make it and have to do it, I won't view it as \"punishment\" but another opportunity for them to improve their CL standard. In that sense, it is not unfair. That's how I explained to my boys.
