      Herbie:

My DD will be going for the Leadership Camp in June.

      :celebrate:

:congrats: Herbie. Wonder which is the best time frame to plan for june and Nov holiday now? Any input from experienced GE parents who went thru P5 last years?

      Congratulations to your daughter, Herbie!

      Zann,
Based on the calendar we got, looks like 2nd to 3rd week of June holidays might be good time to go on holiday. I think there is Maths Masterclass in 1st week of June Holiday.

Agree with ksme that 2nd and 3rd week of June is a good time to go for holidays.

When DD was in P5 GEP last year, for Week 1 there was Math Masterclass and Spelling Bee Competition as well as an overseas school trip organised by the Chinese Department. Some kids selected for Math Masterclass had to miss the overseas trip. For Week 4, there was the Leadership Camp. DD attended the camp last year but for those who are not attending, then Week 4 is free.

For September holidays, there is a Creative Arts Programme (CAP) for selected GEP students. It took up about 3 days of the one week hols.

I don't remember there being any special GEP programmes during the year end holidays. Maybe some other parents can confirm this?

                Hi all,

Just wanna check, does anybody have a child who got into GEP but his sibling(s) didn’t? How did the sibling who didn’t get in feel and turn out?

if there’s a concern, then as parents we should start managing the expectation way before the screening/streaming so that we don’t unintentionally make them feel guilty.

Of course there are. My friend's son was very keen to get into GEP after seeing his kor-kor do his GEP projects etc. He enjoyed helping him and learning along with him. So he was very disappointed when he didn't get in. He also didn't feel challenged by his mainstream work after that.

So the date for the leadership camp has been shifted from the last week of June hols to the first week? Then it will clash with other programmes /workshops, right?

I remembered last year, during the first week, there was a English workshop (one day), Math Masterclass and some schools also use this period for overseas trip for their P5s.

                        Hi Trex8,

Based on the handout leadership camp for 2011 will be held in the first week of June as stated in my earlier post. I have not heard abt the maths workshops and chinese camp etc.

                        Cheers!
