[Bukit Merah] Primary Schools

Rena:
Hi Rena!if u going for RM - you can consider the student care at Telok blangah height under PAP student care.
hav u found any better student care ard bukit merah area?
Actually, I have been focussing on the schools, and negligent in this aspect. Do you have any information on the PAP student care in Telok Blangah Height?
Again, from Lill, it seems that the BASC from YMCA in GESPS is not bad.
Maybe I will start looking around after we are done with the registration. If we go to GESPS, we don't even need to look around!

Hi Qms
there are 2 type of student care/before after school care :
1) those centre that call student care are for only Primary school children. they eirther go in before sch or after sch.
2) the another kind centre are childcare centre - they are manly for 18mth to 6yr (nursery to k2) & plus they also hav a small group for before and after sch care.
However, i heard abt feedback that option 1 would be better compare to option 2. Because student care - they are focus on primary sch student. As for option 2, childcare centre - would be more noisy and focus might not be so much on primary student as they are more for children below 6.
And also when those sch term holidays, you need your kid to attend the student care too… i would feel student care will be better…
GESPS - seem like the student care not bad and also it in house. their rates is abt SGD295
If your are going for RM - neaby the housing estate - there are childcare centre that do hav BASC. the teacher will bring your kid to RM in the afternoon.
If you prefer student care - then can look for telok blangah ht CC -under pap - sch fee abt sgd 185.
If for me to choose - i would prefer GESPS in house student care - under YMCA (christian base) -
Hi Rena!
Thanks for sharing. Will look at it again. Let's pray hard that things will turn out as what we wish. :xedfingers:
Have a nice weekend! -
Hi Rena, saw your post on the student care at Telok Blangah Heights under PAP. Just to confirm, you mean the centre is walking distance to the school and the teachers will walk them to sch in the afternoon? Or there is a sch bus from the student centre sending the kids to RMPS?
I’m also considering both RMPS and GESPS. 1-2km from RMPS and within 1km from GESPS. Thought of taking a chance during p2c balloting in RMPS first and if couldn’t get it, then GESPS under p2cs. However, I’m not sure if this is a right choice. GESPS seem to be more convenient, less stress from my daughter, etc. But base on '08 PSLE results, they have 49% going express, 20+% to normal, 20+% to normal tech. That seems quite bad right?
Anyone know the statistics for RMPS 08 PSLE? -
Opps… just realised I mixed up the childcare and the student care. Do you know if the student care provides any sch bus service?

Titank, I've more or less decided to go for P2C RM, and forgo RV. Accessibility is still high on my criteria list. . It's a hassle to apply & withdraw applications, so I'll take a chance.
QMS & Chipmunks,
So both of you heading down register in RVPS & GESPS in Phase 2A(2)?
Just to share some info about RVPS & RMPS. A new VP is now in RMPS, if not wrong she came from Pioneer JC. On the other hand, RVPS new Principal was from St Hilda's Primary.
Hv called up RM & they told me no. of PV is less than 30. If this info is accurate, then no. of places left for RM would be (121 - 30) = 91, assuming 0 intake at P2A2.
I've also asked RM whether there is any plan to upgrade the school facade & then reply was 'Not within the next 2 years'
. So the old look is here to stay for a while...
Titank, your info on RV's new principal fr St Hilda's does make a difference as St Hilda's is another highly sought after school. Unfortunately 1 of my frens did PV for St Hilda's but failed in the balloting in phases 2B & 2C.
QMS, hv u made up your mind - to go GES or RV or RM ? R u within 1 km from RM ? If so, we have some chance in RM also... -

Hi Chipmunks,
Ya I also at 1st decided on RVPS where like is there is quite a number of International Nationality in RVPS, so like paying local school fee where enjoy international school standard.
Agree with you the location of RVPS seem rather inconvenience, the only mode to travel is school bus. 1 thing good about RVPS is that P1 is in the afternoon, P2 onwards in the morning.
RMPS accepted PV around 20, then my chance should be good to enter in Phase 2B. 1 more week for me to decide RMPS or RVPS. :?: -
Hi Maozai
If you go for RM - bukit purmei area got child care centre. you can leave your child there for BASC. The teacher will bring (walk) them to RM before sch starts.
If you want student care - the nearest student care shd be at Telok blangah heights (Under PAP). for this , there will be sch bus sending your child to the Sch. Perhap you hav to check with the student care and arrange for the transport.
For GESP - There was a balloting for P2C supp last year. If you go for RM under P2C and fail to enrol in, by then when you go for GESP, u might hav to face another balloting. Hav to consider carefully.
As for PSLE result…i’m not too sure… but GESP rather new…perhaps it will take sometime for them to achive better result. -
Hi Rena, thanks for your feedback. I nvr thought it’ll be such a stressful thing.
Btw, for parents trying for Ph2c, would you go on the first day or last day to register? -

You mentioned that there is a Student Care where the teacher would bring them to the school every day? Presuming the P1,P2 all starts in the afternoon? I'm refering to Radin Mas Primary.
Do you have the Student Care Tel where I can check out for more details?
