Aiyoh LKVM,
Of all the places at a wedding at Ritz Carlton :!:
No need to wear tuxedo, but a simple shirt and pants will suffice lah

Can feel ornot?? -
Admummy,
How about getting a bling bling princess keychain that she can carry around and feel 'dressed up' at the same time?
My DS's gal friend at enrichment has one small sweet looking keychain hanging at her bag... she will come to us and say 'my princess says Hi..'
I think dressing neat and appropriate good liao, nothing to do with branded baju or outshining any other kid. My friend really bochap, dunno how to tell her nicely.... Won't the kid feel funny or out of place?
But tux :!: .....not the ill fitting ones from OG ahhh

alamak... sounds like my 3yo nephew! He's a Ben10 fan. Always dressed top to toe in Ben10 outfits, complete with Ben 10 watch, waterbottle and even underwear
My friend dressed her son in seasoned Ben10 tee and shorts for a Ritz Wedding dinner :faint:
But I think my SIL has better fashion sense and taste so may not allow son to wear seasoned Ben10 clothes to Ritz Carlton wedding dinner. Then again, if son insists and throws temper tantrums, the mother may just give in... -

Alamak, better don't laugh too hard, I have a son too :!: What goes round will come round, twice back in return somemore.
Will update this thread in errrrrr maybe 6 mths to a yr whether DS is a fan of any character and insists on wearing the clothes, right down to the underwear
Then you all can do this to me

Ha ha.... now Ben10 head to toe, then Harry Potter....then hopefully Armani time they buying their own stuff...scary to think even
Luckily my Ah Pek DS never difficult to dress.
He gets to choose most of the time, but when he sees a set of baju meant for him after shower he just wear them. -

hi admummy, sound like my dd. she would look at a certain brand of skin care products advert on TV and turn to me and ask, \"mama, u also use this right?\" (the fact she observes what brand i use!) plus she always remind me and dh her skin is nice and soft co she uses a soap meant for babies...Wow thks so much! u gals have brought out many good points! Factors like independence, characters, etc. I was too focus on the vanity part n overlooked all these.
Well, she cld hv mirror my actions coz she always like to watch me dress up for work or put on make up....now she even wana follow me put on night cream, eye gel etc.. Told her she's young got nice skin so dun nid to put whereas mummy old need to rely on skin products to take care...end up she will sulk n said she want it so no choice I will just dip a little to let her try...So to prevent this, now I got do it discreetly but somtimes she even remind me.
Then there's occasion that she wld overdress like wearing a tiara n princess gown for enrichment class. Of course I stopped her nonsense n end up with weepy n unhappy child... She dun understand appropriateness.. To her, she want to dress nicely but it's not appropriate dress code lor..really dunno wat to do with her..now I hv to resort to hiding some of her clothings and I try not to fuss over my attire or appearance in front of her..
I hate to do all these but if I dun do, I think she'll go overbroad...
when we go out, and she see me wearing a specially nice high-heel shoes, she wil cry and ask me to buy same one for her. when i tel her she's too young to wear high heels cos her feet is stil growing, she wil cry some more and ask can i buy for her when she grow up? sigh, definitely more \"hiao\" than me when i was her age...
only when she see me get blisters when wearing the shoes (cos brand new), n she ask me what is that? i said its blisters and its painful cos i wear the new shoes, then she decided its better she dun wear such shoes until older and the crying stopped
frankly, u can't control how vain your dd is naturally. but u can certainly manage her by explaining why certain things like nail polish, make up is not suitable for her at this age. its natural dds like to grow up pretty like their mummies right? but like i said earlier, focus on other things like moral values, integrity etc. thats y they need us parents to be around to guide and teach from young. -

im also hvg the same problem with my DD of 4 years old. she wl fuss over what to wear & what hair accessories to put on every outing we have. she wl throw tantrums n whine non stop if we did not give in to her.Wow thks so much! u gals have brought out many good points! Factors like independence, characters, etc. I was too focus on the vanity part n overlooked all these.

So in order not to let her go overboard on vanity, her Daddy kept away all the nice accessories n anything that gotto do with vanity. of cos she wl sulk but i guess we dont have other choice...if we dont control her now..we are afraid she might get into trouble one day if she continues to be so vain...\" -
Being too vain is a problem. But how the girl carries herself and behaves in public is also really something parents should not overlook.
I was at the traffic junction that day when I saw this girl, abt 10 yrs old. She was with her mom, waiting to cross the road. When waiting, she was looking around with eyes half-closed and lips slightly apart, at the same time, flipping her long hair to the left and right. trying to adopt a seductive pose. When it's time to cross the road, she swings her hips from side to side, flips her hair to synchronise with her hip movements.
Another time on the mrt, a supposedly well-dressed abt 7 yr old girl, sat cross-legged, checking a small mirror to adjust her hair, and also looking around to see if people are admiring her beauty.
So, dressing smartly, appropriately is impt, but I think it's best not to put so much emphasis on clothes and accessories.
