[Bukit Timah] Primary Schools

Hi,
My older kids are in a neighbourhood school which I have found have not been able to perform up to my expectations in terms of quality of teaching staff and the academic culture. I am hoping to put my youngest child in a more reputable school which is more than 2km from my residence.
Does this mean that I have to register for 2C on Tuesday 29th July 2008, Wednesday 30th July 2008 or Thursday 31st July 2008?
Anyone knows if the chances of balloting outside of 2km for RGS is at all possible or hopeless? I have checked the balloting history and current numbers, they seem to look hopeful, am I wrong in my interpretation? -
One of my friends did apply for RGPS under phase 2C and they got it. Looking the current no. of application, if you want to apply for RGPS, your chance looks quite high.
If you are a working parent and planning to send your child to RGPS everyday it is not a wise decision unles if you are a full time taking care of your kids. -
hi kiasu2008,
Seeking your advice. Why do you mention that itβs only advisable for stay at home parents to send their kids to RGPS ?
Is it because of the highly competitive environment there ?
Thx.
Rgds,

Hi
My daughter is in RGPS and Iβm a working mum. The school is quite a distance away as I live in Jurong. There are plenty of school bus that helps to ferry kids all over Singapore. Depending on where you stay, journey can be as short as 10 minutes or as long as 1.5 hours. If you planning to drive, always remember the congestion in the evening is a headache (P1 & 2). Cars are only allowed to come in at 6.45pm. Morning session not as bad. For extra classes or ECA (they start as young as P1), you can make arrangement to have another bus to ferry your kids after the designated hour (at extra minimal cost).
Surprisingly, the school has lots of interesting programs and good support of parents volunteer. Study wise, it is stressfull as majority of the students are so very clever (I quote from the teacher). Good school although it has no affiliation with any secondary school. -

Does it means Raffles secondary school is not affiliation with Raffles primary school?

Absolutely no affliation...but I would think most in the top few classes will make it to RGS anyway.

all along, I though it should at least over 60% RGP's student can go directly to RGS...It seems I'm wrong.

But as know, Nanyang Primary school's student can go their affiliation secondary school with much lower PLSE result compare to other primary school's student. -

Just thought I would post the last 2 yrs statistics for MGS Phase 2B here for anyone who is considering MGS :
Phase 2B P1 in 2008 P1 in 2007
(33 vacancies) (48 vacancies)
Within 1km 26 applicants 24 applicants
Between 1-2km 17 applicants 10 applicants
Outside 2km 8 applicants 42 applicants
This year under Phase 2B - there were 38 vacancies , 22 within 1k, 6 within 1-2k and 20 plus outside 2k - so the balloting was for outside 2km
For Phase 2C last year, I believe there was balloting within 1 km - 40 applicants for 33 places - was the 1st time MGS had to ballot within 1km! -
