      Hi all,

My son was borned in 2005. (register this year)
we stayed in Hougang Ave 4 within 1 km of HIPS and HGP.
      Please let me know:
      1) which school for HIPS and HGP is better?
      2) For balloting in 2C, which school is easier to enter?

        Hi bluefish,

Great to meet you here again under this thread (after Lcentral).

Concidentally I also have a 2005 child whom I've intention to put to Lcentral or something after she completes her advanced phonics program at Jan & Elly. I think we are in the same vicinity. For us, we are a traffic light away from HIPS.

For 2010, highest PSLE scorer in HIPS is 266 while HPS is 267. So pretty close. The plus point of HIPS over HPS (my personal opinion) is that it is a SAP school (stronger focus on chinese language and culture) and it has a affiliated secondary school (quality of secondary school is a separate discussion). For that, I would personally choose HIPS over HPS.

For balloting history, you can refer to following link. The way I read it is both schools require balloting for phase 2C for those staying within 1km.
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/hougang. One consideration is that HIPS has 300 places while HPS has 240. You might want to look at the absolute no. of places left at Phase 2C.

You are right, we live so near.
I compared websites for the both school and feel HPS is better.
But HIPS focus chinese culture that is what I want.
We only have one chance to register for Primary school.?

Yes, everyone only has 1 chance. If more than that, I think the entire registration system will be even more chaotic. :!:

In your case, it's really tricky where to \"place your bet\" on 😉 Good luck with your selection.

Historically HIPS within 1km under phase 2C need to ballot. Are you ready for that?

i already submit the form to XHPS to say i wont be enrolling my younger on eto XHPS under phase 1. so in this case, if balloting for HIPS is not successful, what m i expecting?

If you wish to register for HIPS in phase 2C, you will first have to withdraw from XHPS since you cannot be registered for 2 schools at any one time. All registration data are online with MOE server, so you cannot try to register att HIPS without withdrawing from XHPS.

And in the event you are not successful in HIPS' balloting, you can't get your place back at XHPS.
