My chid is attending AS for English every tue starting from y'day. And AS for chinese this friday only as stated from the memo to parents brought back by my chid. Have written a note to the teacher to check if its just 1 time off or every week. I believe that AS is for weaker students and not those who have done well in the 1st MA. And not all have to attend. My chid told me only 6 from their class went.
Can check with you is ur DD is Pri 1 or ??? -
So confusing :?
I thought kids on LS are identified during the beginning of year P1 readiness test.
AS is for ? -

During the first week of Term I, the EL teacher gave them a test (MOE requirement) to determine students that need to go for LS. (Think this is set by MOE)So confusing :?

For AS, it is extra lessons that the teacher determines which child needs to attend. -

My understanding is that LS is based on MOE test. AS is Pei Chun’s programme. Both are for those who need extra help.

Spoke to my girl's FT. She said my girl doesn't need to attend AS and LS. She said AS is for the weaker students and MAs is one of the means they used to gauge the students... it is out of the regular school hours... and the school will issue memo and consent forms to inform parents. Whereas LS is carried out during the school curriculum and only a few selected ones will be attending... -

was a bit hesitant when I asked her how they decide who would be going for which one...
From what I knew, both AS and LS caters to weaker students. The former was selected base on the recent MA tests and are carried out by the respective subject teachers whereas the latter was chosen from the early MOE assessment and to be coach by the school's co-ordinator. -
Thanks Aggie.
As the selection is based on the assessment from two separate groups, there may be a possibility that a same child might need to attend both AS and LS?
