I am a full time working mother to a 6 year old who will be involved in this year's P1 registration exercise...
Hi jcmum,
For me, i will register St Hilda in P2B 1st and monitor Tao Nan in P2C since u brought a hse near Tao Nan but it will be far to St Hilda, issit? Hw abt your current place that stay within 1km? -
Any views between Radin Mas & River Valley?
I done PV for both school:
= River Valley (between 1 to 2km / with 70 PVs flighting for a place)
= Radin Mas (<1km)
My hubby's choice is RVP but looking at the number of PVs.... chances are pretty slim
Should I just go for RMPS or try my luck for RVP?
Hi kiki,
There are no balloting in these two sch in P2B if u had done PV for both of these sch. So your chances getting in either one of the sch is 98%. Correct me if im wrong, thx... -
Kiki:
If everything equal, then <1km (RM) stand a better chance to get in compared to RVPS which is between 1 to 2 km...............hoskins8h:
CHIJ Kellock seems to have better PSLE results (plus affliation to CHIJ St Teresa). The following data are from public sources...

Hi Jtoh, thanks for your kind advise. I tried writing in to St Hilda's twice, for an opportunity to speak with the principal, and there is no reply. I tried calling, but the girl was not friendly. What can I do next?Hi jcmum,
As you mentioned that you child is mildly ADHD and dyslexic, why don't you call up the schools you're interested in and ask them if they provide assistance in this area. Some schools send their teachers for training in how to manage kids with ADHD and dyslexia and this would be more beneficial for your dd.

Personally, I think you should visit the school and can ask to see the admin manager / principal / student counsellor for a consultation to explain your gal's situation, as well as assess the suitability of environment. Nothing beats seeing with your own eyes.

Another consideration in your case can be if there is affiliated secondary school and the value-add. Affiliated secondary usually acts as a safety net, as there is no guarantee what the child performance is progressing from lower to upper primary. It sometimes save a lot of headache for parents too. -

To mummy of 3,
I heard from a fren, last year was a surprise  and there was almost balloting at RPVS.
School \\ Vacancy \\ # Registered for last year
River Valley Primary School 41 39
:wrongmove: Even i have completed PVs for both schools, is just a pain parents have to be at either schools waiting....
To dorisp: you are correct. RMPS will have a better chance....
What will you do if you are in my position..... :?: -
Hi Kiki
Since you have done PV for both schools, frankly you are in even better position to ascertain which school is more stuitable for your child based on those experiences you have gained while doing PV.

How about writing directly to the principal's email with your concerns?

I believe the 'exposure' to 2 different school cultures would enable you decide which school to register. Do bear in mind the traffic conditions and whether there is partial afternoon session too. If P1/2 are in afternoon session, will there be heavy traffic congestion when picking your child after school ? This is a daily affair...so it can be frustrating picking your child at 630pm from Mon-Fri.Hi Kiki

We failed in Balloting at St Margaret’s and eventually my daughter ended up in Canossa Convent. St Margaret’s called to say they have a vacancy for my daughter now. But my daughter is doing quite well at Canossa, but we like St Margaret’s single session and affiliation to the Secondary. However, we are concern with transiting her into St Margaret’s and that it will adversely affect her in her learning experience (both academically and character building). So, am in a dilemma now …
Any advise/comments is greatly appreciated.
