so both are for weaker students ??
I supposed... But I have a strong feeling that my form teacher doesn't want to portray the picture that MA is a guide in deciding who goes for AS... She was a bit hesitant when I asked her how they decide who would be going for which one...Callie Tan:
My understanding is that LS is based on MOE test. AS is Pei Chun's programme. Both are for those who need extra help.
Spoke to my girl's FT. She said my girl doesn't need to attend AS and LS. She said AS is for the weaker students and MAs is one of the means they used to gauge the students... it is out of the regular school hours... and the school will issue memo and consent forms to inform parents. Whereas LS is carried out during the school curriculum and only a few selected ones will be attending... -

The former was selected base on the recent MA tests and are carried out by the respective subject teachers whereas the latter was chosen from the early MOE assessment and to be coach by the school's co-ordinator. -
Thanks Aggie.
As the selection is based on the assessment from two separate groups, there may be a possibility that a same child might need to attend both AS and LS?
 -
yes LS is carried with the a different person, not by the teachers…
I think some kids might be attending both… -
Oh it may be very tiring but I suppose it is a kind effort to help the children improve before it is too late.

We received the notification about Alternative Assessment for Maths on 18 April and Shapes will be tested. Does any parent know the format of the AA ? Is it different from MA1 ?

Yes can any parents share with us the difference between MA & AA? What's the purpose of conducting Math AA? -
The diff between MA & AA was mentioned during the Briefing for Parents of P1 children. Refer to the link below:

As what is the purpose, i have no idea as well. :?
Based on the slide, guessed that MA is more on written test and AA is more on hand-on. -
