Well kabby thats one thing which I am quite jealous of the SAHM πŸ˜›

The one thing GOOD about being SAHM is to enjoy off-peak shopping and private sales, not that I often attend them...the other thing which is not too pleasant is to be able to look after kids if they are not well... TOUCHWOOD !!! Oh yes, near exam period, there is no need to take annual leave.

Oh yes... one of my collegues's son is not well and had to be admitted so she cannot take too many child care leaves so no choice have to take annual leave :stupid:
I am not working and hubby & I do feel the pinch when son needs to attend compo writing class...however, we have to take him out of the other Eng class as it is too expensive to hold on to both programs.
Hubby's annual leave is mainly for son's CA/SA bcos hopeless mummy here cannot handle Maths.

        Hi fellow SAHMs,

the plus point about being a SAHM is that you can go out during times when there isn't a crowd and thus have less problem with queues right?

definitely! this is the best perk for SAHM! some places like iexplorer kids, you get to enjoy non-peak charges and crowd free stations...

Can you all share where do you usually bring your toddlers during the day? Especially for those with Pr sch/ kindy older siblings but another toddler at home. My mornings are pretty much me and bb, and I'd like more ideas on where to bring her out. Yet, I cannot go out for too long cos I need to be back before ds1 returns from Pr sch and ds2 from kindy.

a stroll at the park, reservoir or supermarket, visit the library, an hr play at the amusement park, swimming..

The other minor thing is, do you all prefer to go to places within walking distance or do you all usually drive alone with the toddler?

i dun drive (no guts to take out driving lesson)...so normally i put son on stroller, lesh my dog (sometimes maid comes along if need to buy grocceries) out to the park or reservoir which is a stone throw away or supermarket (2 bus stops away)...usually son quite cooperative during the walk, in fact, he will doze off

if my hubby is available to be Mr Ahmad πŸ˜‰ , will drop us to places like library, amusement park, etc .....if he cannot fetch us home, will take public transport...very troublesome but still manageable since the bus less pack at this off-peak hours....that's why we considering to move to a place where the amenities are nearer (at least within walking distance so that i dun have to rely on my hubby) from where we stay... where do you stay, is your place near to those amenities? in any case, usually we dun venture far, since time is short, got to fetch the elder two by noon....

If so, how do you make toddler happy in seat without being a multi-tasking madwoman like me? dd absolutely hates sitting at the back in her car seat, restrained and she'll scream. Then I'll be singing songs, talking and trying to interest her in things outside the car, and other distracting stuff like passing her baby biscuits or toys from the front, all the while trying to drive. It is madness...Alternative is to ignore her screaming but my threshold for loud noises is quite low, so I tend to go mad too, if her screaming continues. Ugh...

wow this sound so challenging and mission impossible...you must be superwoman to handle this situation :celebrate: if i were you, i will stop the car otherwise my migrane will come on, very stressful and dangerous with so much distraction going on...have you tried using dvd, or ipad, or iphone, let her watch some shows? or play the apps on the phone? btw, how old is your kid? boy or gal?..

Yeah have to balance the things and each one of us wants the best for the kids πŸ˜‰

My breathing time is from 7am to 1pm now. Come 130pm, the house will become a zoo again. If my 'Ahmad' happens to be at home certain day and my legs are itch, then we will go to IMM...he will work at Mac while I roam.

              :rotflmao:

He cannot be seen walking about right ? So this high class 'Ahmad' works in Mac waiting for his employer to finish buying groceries, then he will carry the bags with his laptop to the car. :rotflmao:

This comes with a cost. At the expense of earning double income

But off peak is still crowded nowsaday. So many people in NTUC during off peak hours
that's cos they open less counters during off peak. hrrmph. i normally go NTUC late morning too, thinking there'll be less people. but then there'd still be somewhat of a queue cos there are fewer cashiers!

however, the cashiers tend to be more relaxed and friendly at that timing. will talk and play with my bb.

                    Thats so cute πŸ˜‰

My legs itchy today...not in the mood for anything but window-shop. 'Ahmad' working from home today, so will ask him if he has conference calls...if not, I'm going to IMM. So ah, if you don't see my posts, that means I go jalan jalan. :dancing:

also have to bring kids along when i cut hair, but then i much prefer to go alone. have to wait till mom is free to babysit for me then i go do all these...

How about IMM ? Now that kids are in morning school, I will go there to enjoy air con or walk to Popular πŸ˜› as hubby works from home, we will pick them up during his lunch hour.

IMM is nice indeed. the kids love the water play area. that was one of the first in Sg malls? after that, there were so many other choices, like the zoo's and science center's.

I live nearer Jurong Point so I normally go there. seems to me JP is crowded at all times too! though 11am is one of the least crowded times i guess.
