how do you get kids to eat brown rice mixed with white rice?
My 9 years old don like brown rice. -

About preventing rice bugs, my MIL put dried chilli into the rice bin and we followed the same. Seems to be a great help in preventing rice bugs because we hardly encountered any! Usually we buy the 5 kg type and that can last quite some time.
Anybody with experience or can confirm this way of preventing rice bugs helps?

We mixed in about 1/3 brown rice to 2/3 white rice or ratio at the most 1/2, 1/2 so the rice cooked is still soft but is redish in colour. My boy 3.5 yo hence we are trying to let him get use to seeing and eating \"brown\" rice. For us adults, we ate white rice for years only now eating mixed rice. To me it taste the same just a little bit more chewy that's all!

I use the ”双虹“ from NTUC and mixed in 1 scoop (use the baby milk powder scoop) of multi-grains. The rice is purplish in color but still soft. I think it is healthier to eat multi-grains. When my kids were small, I grind the multi-grains into powder and add that plus the brown rice powder to cook porridge for them.

Yes, I think so, those quite large dried chilli, just put a handful of those on top of the rice in the rice bin. Can try if you got rice bugs problem and let us know if it helps!

okay, we eat the fragrant purple hill rice, by special arrangement by someone who buys for me

I think I put it somewhere but I use the cooking oil mixed with rice so that the bugs dont come.. it works for meDesertWind:

[/quote]I use silica gel packets...those you can found in some medicine bottles to prevent moisture. It works for me.
