Can someone kind enough share here what is the current pay for Indon maid going into 3rd year of service ? Thanks !
My Indon. maid started with SGD400. At the renewal contract ie. 3rd year, we raised to SGD 450. Now with the new increased pay, we have up it gradually to SGD500. Now into her 4th year with me it is SGD550. With her next renewal of contract half-a-year later, I will up it to SGD600 (ie. into her 5th year). -

I have also renewed my helper's contract this March. This is her 3rd year.
She started off with $350, then $370 and now $400.
All other personal expenses borne by us eg clothes, toiletries etc ... plus yearly bonus. She has no off day.
You are consider lucky.
Our helper are not willing to renew her contract with us unless we increase her salary from $370.00 to $450.00 :x -

She actually wanted to go back, but due to certain circumstances on our side, we managed to convince her to stay for another year. She also mentioned that she was reluctant to take a risk and change employer should she decide to return again because she is happy with us and is affectionate towards DS.
We actually explained our rationale for the the gradual increase to her ie the extra expenses we incur on her behalf w/o any fuss, bonuses etc .... And also because she has got a pleasant character, we treat her more like one of us ....
Also, as mentioned before, she is quite a 'homely' person. She has a close relationship with her family so I think that is also one reason. -

Thanks LKVM, for your input.
Autumn I think gradual increase is good rather than drastic one... you are doing good thing... plus she doesnt have off day is also an advantage :celebrate:autumnbronze:

This one I have to give credit to DH because as he holds the purse ..... ermmmm .... wallet strings, he decides on the pay

BUT understand that the \"new\" pay is not compulsory and is only \"implemented\" by the 17 agencies (any news of the investigation into them ?)
I think its up to the agent to negotiate with the local agents/maid - I am paying my (EX-SG) new maid $440 already based on the new rates. She was only getting $320 a year ago so this is considered a big jump for her on conditions that no off days and no mobile phone. -
DesertWind:
Each increment is $50! and it is a 50% increment since she first started 4years ago! What does your maid do for your household ? Did you also give her off-days and mobile phone ?verykiasu2010:

your maid reads newspaper one ? maybe she got to know about the increase for Indo maids ? I asked mine to pack newspaper and she actually reads them at her leisure and tells me the maid stories she saw. I bet she also saw the March reports on \"Where has all the Indo maids gone\".gumiho:

Thats quite bad attitude then...  -
