Science Guide Books

Thanks, Janet, save me a trip to Popular. Will do with what I have now.I don't think there should be much difference for lower block/upper block and PSLE edition...rather get PSLE edition since it's 2-in-1. More practical if I need info on lower block.
Done with buying assessment books for son already...more than enough until he is done with P6. Now waiting for 20% to buy CL assessment books for P6.
Understand he will have to stay back everyday next year (P6), so better control spending since he won't have much time when he returns at 330pm Mond-Fri. -

Hi Janet,
Hi Champion,
I use Helen Lee's Upper Block Science for MCQ questions...60 marks is a lot...if my boy can score close to 60 marks in Section A, I am quite relieved, but need to boost his OE to pull up the overall now.
If at home I will have the Ultimate Science Guide + Helen Lee Lower Block Science + SAP Science Partner Lower Block as my \"guide & reference\" while doing the revision and checking of answers. Sometimes find very tedious but in the process am learning too
My DD1 also being taught to use elimination method to answer the MCQ. One thing I see what DD1's teacher teaches them to do is:
1) Use Yellow Hight lighter to hight light the key word in the Question;
2) Use Green Pen to do correction and also to write down the reason (as given & explain by teacher) next to the MCQ Question.
Feel this is a good practise and encourage DD1 to do so at home but she simply too lazy!

The psle ultimate was published later, maybe they did it due to the popularity of the mc psle guide. Contents wise there is not much difference but I actually prefer the lower&upper layout, overview concept map and walk thru experiments. Jmho.Janet,
Is there any difference between this PSLE Ultimate Science and the 2 Upper and Lower Block Ultimate Science? I have the Upper and Lower Block Ultimate Science and am wondering if I still need this PSLE Ultimate Science.... :? -
pixiedust:
Thanks, Pixiedust. I'm going to save $$ and not buy the consolidated PSLE Ultimate Science guide since I already have the separate Upper and Lower Block Ultimate Science guides. Anyway, with the limited time left before SA1, Prelim and PSLE, doubt DS has time to finish the guide books!

SA1 time-table released yesterday...everything from P3 will be tested...doesn't come as a shock to me, since the kind mummies here have prepared me for it. 2 more topics from 'Systems' will be thrown in - Cells + Air & Respiratory System.

Now trying to insert these 2 topics into the month of May. Thank goodness there is a Monday public holiday in lieu of Labour Day. -
Hi Mummies,
I checked out ‘Everyday Science’ yesterday…there are only 14 copies of this in Singapore and at selected Popular stores only. It’s for P3 and was published in 2008. Honestly, I feel that Ultimate Science will be more useful & updated. -

Sure...my legs were itchy to check out Everyday Science yesterday and also to see what's new in Popular. Saw several P2 Vocabulary books (4 for $10)...upper primary ones are mostly sold out.

Haha..your \"legs bring you to IMM Popular\" again?

Yup, last Sunday Hubby got the 4 for $10 book and the P3 Vocab already out-of-stock so he got the P4 one. Have put it aside first; maybe 2nd part of the year then take a look ...
Janet, :offtopic: a bit - can share with us how you plan the Science Revision with DS? Especially nowadays kids have so many homework everyday - I am fighting time to coach DD1 in the later part of the evening or over the weekends  -
Champion:
Agree with you...time is so tight. Since son's Maths is weak, I allocated 2 days for revision. Science is done only on Saturday night...I shoot the whole chapter on 'Cycles' from Helen Lee's book for eg and he will get it done, then I'll mark it and explain where his mistakes are.
