Yiap, and parents will start scrambling to find tutors for their kids and these tutors will be ex-school teachers who have resigned to teach their own kids as well as to earn some money by giving private tuition ...
i rem when i was in uni there was this indian lecturer teaching statistics, everyone had a hard time understanding him as he talked very fast and accent. He even had his lecture recorded and gave us the link to the web. We even slow motion the lecture but still cant catch what he was saying. End up always less than half the class attended his lesson, all prefer to self-study...

I also had a lecturer from Shandong in my 3rd year at university. His accent was so bad and most of us felt the one hour lecture time could be more effectively used if we do self study. So we skipped his lecture since we could not make out what he was teaching anyway.

Guess what? He complained and all of us receive a warning that if we continue to cut lectures, we would be barred from taking exams. So we \"kua kua\" attended his lectures but all of us are reading our photostated notes during his lectures.

As adult learners, we can still self-study as we are self-disciplined and know what we need to do in order to pass exams and get our degree. However, as Pri/Sec students, is it reasonable to expect them to be able to self-study and display such self-discipline too?

pri/sec students will just switch off if they dnt understand or even show interest in the subject... :(
I wonder will there be a day when parents are fed-up and just send their kids to good tutors and do not let them attend primary schools?

That thought has crossed my mind. If kids these days are going for English, Chinese, Math and Science tuition, then there's no need to go to school is there, except for PE, CCA and to socialise?

this called homeschooling? although I think the usual definition is where the parents undertake the actual teaching.

I got the impression that they are hiring from India for Sec/JCs only. Not Primary schools.

So 2% of teachers teaching Sec/JC or 2% of the whole teaching population under MOE purvue but designated only to teach Sec/JC.
Somehow I feel thse foreign teachers are sent to neighbourhood schools only and not the elite schools (as yet)

is there anyway that children go for private PSLE? :?

Homeschooled kids registered for PSLE by their parents but their passing and marks for express stream have higher benchmarks

  not referring to homeschooled kids, they have parents capable of homeschooling them till Pri 6.

I'm referring to those who don't homeschool and fed-up with the school system. Wonder will such a thing happen
